A scream draws Han-rim’s attention. Ju-hee is restrained by other children while her younger brother Ju-hyeok approaches with a sickle. He has the same emptied, indoctrinated stare.

The pastor recites another verse:

Ju-hee collapses nearby, realizing Han-rim has saved both her and her brother.
The cult closes around them¶
More adult believers gather in a semicircle. Their faces are blank, angry, or ecstatic. The pastor scratches or traces a pentagram-like symbol into his clothing while continuing his invented scripture.
LORD’S NEW TESTAMENT, CHAPTER 3 VERSE 39…
LORD, SAINT, BELIEVER,
ALL THREE SHALL UNITE AGAINST THE EVIL…
AND DEFEAT IT ONCE AND FOR ALL.
Han-rim rises in front of Ju-hee and Ju-hyeok. Her eyes sharpen, and she introduces herself with deliberate confidence:

The scene cuts back to the agency office. Hwa-jin cheerfully raises a hand toward Han-rim’s empty chair.

He finally notices she is not there.

Hwa-jin becomes annoyed rather than immediately afraid.

He calls her while smoking. The automated message answers:

Cliffhanger — Han-rim captured¶
The final image reveals Han-rim and Ju-hee kneeling in a dark room. Both are dirty, bruised, and bloodied. Their hands appear restrained behind them; a chain runs from the wall or floor behind their bodies. Han-rim’s suit and white shirt are torn and stained, but her eyes remain fiercely alert.
The pastor stands before them with adult followers behind him, smiling in triumph.
