Scope

Sequence 1 — Selecting a suspect

Agency staff provide attendance lists for every class. Because the known victims come from different grades and three are second-year students, Sera’s supervisor initially proposes starting with the second year.

Sera points instead to first-year Class 2 and identifies Lee Chiho. When asked for her grounds, she proudly answers:

Her supervisor finds the method absurd but agrees to begin there. Sera also asks for a promise: while she is disguised as a student, the supervisor must not intervene regardless of what happens. She laughs and calls it a joke, but the request becomes important later.

Sequence 2 — Lee Chiho’s record

The agency obtains a police background check. Chiho is eighteen but should have been a third-year student; repeated juvenile sanctions delayed his schooling.

The chapter presents his record in stark dossier panels:

  • In first-year middle school, he stole a car, sped, and struck a pedestrian who required four months to recover. He received probation.
  • In second-year middle school, he attacked a senior with a bicycle chain after being disciplined. The victim suffered facial paralysis; Chiho was sent to juvenile detention.
  • In third-year middle school, he assaulted a drunken man and stole roughly eight million won, receiving a longer juvenile sentence.
  • In first-year high school, he became a key member of a runaway-teen group and received the highest juvenile punishment, including two years of detention.

The supervisor becomes alarmed that Sera selected a far more dangerous target than expected. Chiho is not merely an intimidating student; he has a history of serious violence and little fear of institutional punishment.

Sequence 3 — Undercover in Class 2

Sera enters the classroom and meets the class president, Lee Seeun, who invites her into the class group chat. Chiho sits in the room gambling on his phone. After five consecutive losses, he demands money from the entire class so he can recover what he lost.

The group chat fills with identical transfers of 31,250 won. Students send the money immediately and add cheerful messages as though the extortion were voluntary.

Sera is fascinated by the updated method.

Sequence 4 — Sera summons Chiho

Sera sends Chiho a message to come to the rooftop immediately, identifies herself as the person refusing payment, and insults him for extorting classmates to fund gambling.

The provocation is intentionally excessive. Sera wants Chiho to reveal himself in front of witnesses rather than allow the agency to remove him quietly on financial evidence alone.

The class president follows and begs Sera to stop. She promises Chiho that Sera is ignorant and can be taught, revealing how accustomed the class has become to negotiating with him.

Chiho blames the class president for failing to “teach” the newcomer properly. Sera responds with equal fury.

Sequence 5 — The rooftop attack

Chiho arrives wearing metal knuckles. Sera’s supervisor finally reveals herself and warns that he does not take it easy on women. She says she will formally enter as an investigator the following day and orders Sera to retreat.

Sera reminds her of the promise not to intervene while she is undercover.

Chiho laughs at the prospect of hitting a girl and launches a full-powered punch at Sera’s face. The page uses large speed lines and heavy Korean impact lettering. Witnesses believe the knuckles connect cleanly and imagine facial fracture or brain hemorrhage.

The chapter cuts off at the apparent impact, leaving Sera’s condition unresolved.
