Get Schooled — Chapter 127¶
Complete Detailed Panel-by-Panel Transcription¶
Scope¶
This transcription follows all 19 ordered images in the supplied Chapter 127 archive. The English scanlation’s wording is preserved where readable. Korean sound effects are described by their action or rhythm when the exact translation is not printed.
Content note¶
The chapter depicts prescription-stimulant dependence, overdose, compulsive studying, parental coercion, self-harm, and physical restraint.
Image 001 — A student is hospitalized after an overdose¶
A promotional header announces a mass-release schedule for the scanlation site.
A teenage boy named Hyunmin lies in a hospital bed wearing a patterned gown. His eyes are half-open, his skin is pale, and an IV line enters his arm.
A doctor explains:
AH, MY… IT SEEMS LIKE A DEFINITE CASE OF DRUG ADDICTION… AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE DOSAGE WAS EXCEEDED TOO…
LET’S HAVE YOU ADMITTED AND MONITOR YOUR CONDITION FOR NOW.
The doctor then speaks to Hyunmin’s mother, a stern middle-aged woman with tied-back dark hair and red-framed glasses:
BUT, MA’AM, AMPHETAMINE-BASED TREATMENTS ARE BANNED IN OUR COUNTRY DUE TO THE RISK OF ABUSE.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THESE ARE USED WITHOUT A PRESCRIPTION?
He lists possible consequences:
INSOMNIA, HALLUCINATIONS, DELUSIONS, OBESITY, ADDICTIVE DEPENDENCE…!
ANXIETY SYMPTOMS CAUSED BY DEPRESSION! DETERIORATION OF LIVER FUNCTION!
The mother looks downward in silence.
YOU MUST STOP THIS MEDICATION IMMEDIATELY! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!
Image 002 — Na and Hanrim discuss the case¶
The series title card appears, followed by a red car speeding through the city at night.
Inside, Hanrim drives while Na Hwa-jin sits in the passenger seat. Hanrim says:
THIS IS REALLY DISHEARTENING…
NO MATTER HOW IMPORTANT THE COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM IS IN LIFE,
The thought continues into the next image.
Image 003 — Stimulant abuse among students¶
Hanrim finishes:
IT’S REALLY SOMETHING TO USE SUCH ILLEGAL DRUGS TO STUDY…
Na replies:
HYUNMIN’S PROBLEM ISN’T JUST HIS OWN.
He explains that a military doctor has reported a rise in stimulant use:
ACCORDING TO THE MILITARY DOCTOR, THERE’S BEEN A DRASTIC RUMOR FOR 10 YEARS THAT ADHD MEDICATION HELPS WITH STUDYING.
The scanlation’s phrasing is awkward, but the visual sequence shows rumors spreading online and parents requesting prescriptions.
BECAUSE OF THIS, MOTHERS, EVEN WHEN THEIR CHILDREN SHOW NO SYMPTOMS,
FORCE DOCTORS TO PRESCRIBE ADHD MEDICATION.
Na continues over a graph of rising prescriptions:
THE STATISTICS ARE CLEAR.
FROM AUGUST, PRESCRIPTIONS FOR ADHD MEDICATION SPIKE, AND NOTICEABLY DECREASE AFTER THE COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAMS IN NOVEMBER.
THE REAL SERIOUS ISSUE IS ILLEGAL DRUGS.
Image 004 — Black-market study drugs¶
An online sales post displays a bottle labeled like a stimulant medication. The post reads approximately:
COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM ESSENTIALS! 100 U.S. ADHD PILLS
I’M A U.S. COLLEGE STUDENT SELLING LEFTOVER PILLS AFTER EXAMS.
THEY REALLY WORK FOR EXAM STUDIES!
DIRECT TRANSACTION, NO NEGOTIATION.
Narration states:
DRUGS THAT ARE BANNED FOR SALE IN THE COUNTRY ARE INDISCRIMINATELY DISTRIBUTED THROUGH SECOND-HAND TRANSACTIONS AND BROKERS.
Na’s face reflects in the car window as city lights streak past.
SUCH ILLEGAL DRUGS, NOT PRESCRIBED BY DOCTORS, CAN EASILY BE MISUSED
AND CAUSE IRREVERSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS.
Image 005 — Hyunmin’s dependence at home¶
A flashback begins. Hyunmin’s mother drops a tall stack of textbooks and study guides onto his desk:
NOW, I’VE BROUGHT YOUR TEXTBOOKS FROM HOME.
THIS WAY, YOU CAN STUDY HERE TOO, RIGHT?
She has converted his hospital recovery into another study period.
THE COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM IS COMING UP SO STUDY JUST LIKE YOU DID AT HOME.
Hyunmin asks weakly:
MOM, THE MEDICINE…?
She leans close:
HYUNMIN, YOU CAN’T TAKE THE MEDICINE ANYMORE…
He answers:
BUT MOM, YOU SAID…
A close-up of his trembling mouth completes the thought:
THAT I NEED TO TAKE THE MEDICINE TO GET INTO MEDICAL SCHOOL…
His expression suddenly turns desperate and manic:
I’LL STUDY AFTER TAKING THE MEDICINE!
GIVE IT TO ME QUICKLY!!
GIVE ME THE MEDICINE NOW!
Image 006 — Withdrawal and the investigation begins¶
Hyunmin throws or slams a book in fury.
I CAN’T STUDY WITHOUT IT!
His mother watches with a strained, unreadable smile.
The scene returns to the present beside the red car. Hanrim holds a pill bottle while Na looks down at another item.
LET’S INVESTIGATE HOW MUCH THESE ILLEGAL DRUGS ARE DISTRIBUTED STARTING TOMORROW.
Image 007 — Hyunmin disappears from the hospital¶
Na adds:
WE CAN’T COMPLETELY STOP IT, BUT LET’S AT LEAST GET ACCURATE STATISTICS ON THIS…
His phone rings.
HELLO?
A caller introduces himself:
EDUCATIONAL AUTHORITY SUPERVISOR? I’M THE DOCTOR IN CHARGE OF STUDENT HYUNMIN…
THE PATIENT HAS DISAPPEARED FROM THE HOSPITAL!
Na’s eye widens.
At Hyunmin’s home, several medication bottles sit on a surface. His mother says:
THE DOCTOR SAID SOMETHING, SO LET’S JUST TAKE A LITTLE.
She hands medication to Hyunmin. He abruptly knocks or snatches the container from her hand.
Image 008 — Hyunmin takes far too many pills¶
Hyunmin pours a large collection of multicolored capsules and tablets into his palm. His eyes are bloodshot and ringed with exhaustion.
He throws the entire handful into his mouth. A large Korean swallowing sound effect accompanies the action.
His mother watches from behind, tense and silent. Hyunmin turns away with a sweating, unnatural smile.
Image 009 — The mother rationalizes confinement¶
A clock ticks repeatedly. The mother paces alone through the apartment, biting a fingernail.
Her thoughts read:
IS IT OKAY…? IT SEEMS LIKE TOO MUCH WAS TAKEN…
ISN’T THIS REALLY GOING TO TURN OUT BADLY?!
WHAT IF THERE’S ANOTHER COLLAPSE BEFORE THE COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM…?
She peers through a nearly closed door. Inside, Hyunmin sits rigidly at his desk under a lamp.
Image 010 — “Everyone in the U.S. takes it”¶
The mother continues rationalizing:
YEAH, IT’LL BE FINE…
She begins closing the door.
IN THE U.S., EVERYONE TAKES THAT MEDICINE DURING EXAM PERIODS, RIGHT?
YEAH… THERE’S NO PROBLEM!
Her thoughts turn toward her own social invisibility:
I’VE NEVER STOOD OUT IN APPEARANCE OR GRADES SINCE I WAS A STUDENT.
Image 011 — The TRPA arrives¶
The apartment doorbell rings repeatedly.
The mother freezes, then approaches the front door and peers through the viewer. Outside stands Hanrim in a black suit.
The mother recognizes the institution with alarm:
AUTHORITY FOR EDUCATION RIGHTS…?!
Her thought continues:
WHY IS THE AUTHORITY FOR EDUCATION RIGHTS HERE AGAIN…?!
Image 012 — Hanrim calls Na¶
Hanrim waits in the corridor, sweating slightly when no one answers.
She phones Na:
SENIOR, THE DOOR IS NOT OPENING…
Na is shown outside at night, wearing black tactical clothing and smoking near the building.
REALLY…?
Image 013 — The mother decides to hide Hyunmin¶
Na stands atop or beside the apartment building against the night skyline.
IT CAN’T BE HELPED.
Inside, the mother sits hunched on the sofa, thinking frantically:
WHY DID THE AUTHORITY FOR EDUCATION RIGHTS COME HERE…
COULD IT BE TO QUARANTINE HYUNMIN?
Her expression becomes hard and possessive.
YEAH…! LET’S LAY LOW AT HOME UNTIL THE COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM!
HYUNMIN SCORED TOP GRADES THIS YEAR! ONLINE CLASSES WILL BE ENOUGH NOW!
WHAT CAN THEY DO IF WE SHUT OURSELVES IN AT HOME?!
A sudden crash interrupts the plan.
AAAH!
Image 014 — Na descends from the roof¶
The mother looks toward the window:
WHAT’S THAT?!
Na appears outside the high-rise window suspended by a rope and harness. He releases part of the line and swings toward the glass.
His face becomes completely focused as he accelerates.
Image 015 — Forced entry¶
Na crashes through the apartment window in an explosion of glass. He lands in a low crouch while holding the rope. The mother throws up her arms and screams.
WH-WH-WHAT ARE YO-
Na answers as he removes or adjusts his gloves:
I’LL COMPENSATE FOR THE BROKEN WINDOW FROM THE AUTHORITY FOR EDUCATION RIGHTS.
Then he asks the only question he cares about:
JUST ONE QUESTION.
DID YOU GIVE HIM THE MEDICINE AGAIN?!
The mother’s eyes widen.
Image 016 — Na runs toward Hyunmin’s room¶
Na abruptly sprints down the hall.
The mother turns after him:
!
Na stops at a dark bedroom doorway.
IS THIS THE PLACE…?
The mother chases him and screams:
WHAT ARE YOU DOING NOW?! ENTERING SOMEONE’S HOUSE WITH DIRTY FEET…!
Na throws the door open.
Image 017 — Severe side effects¶
Inside the room, Hyunmin sits at his desk repeatedly slamming his head against the wall or desk area. Blood sprays across the wall with each impact. The mother and Na stare in horror.
!!
The mother whispers:
HY-HYUNMIN…
Close-ups show Hyunmin’s face bloodied around the brow and temple. His eyes are rolled upward and unfocused. He continues striking his head, driven by the extreme reaction to the medication.
The final panel shows his head snapping back with another violent impact and fresh blood.
Image 018 — The mother’s life philosophy¶
The scene shifts into the mother’s internal monologue and desaturated memories:
ATTENDED AN AVERAGE UNIVERSITY, GOT AN AVERAGE JOB…
MARRIED AT AN APPROPRIATE AGE, IN AN APPROPRIATE WAY…
I’VE BEEN SO FED UP WITH MY LIFE LIKE THIS.
She remembers caring for her infant son.
AT LEAST FOR MY CHILD,
I VOWED TO MAKE SURE HE LIVES A SUCCESSFUL LIFE.
A baby lies on a changing mat, reaching upward.
THESE DAYS, THE ONLY CAREER ONE CAN BE PROUD OF BEING SUCCESSFUL IN IS A DOCTOR!
The mother’s face twists into a determined smile.
Image 019 — Achievement matters more than side effects¶
Her monologue concludes:
IF I COULD BE CALLED A DOCTOR’S MOTHER…!
A MINOR SIDE EFFECT OR SO
Hyunmin convulses or gasps with his eyes rolled back and sweat streaming down his face.
DOESN’T MATTER!
A hand closes around his throat/neck area in the final close-up while the doorbell-like Korean sound continues. The exact owner of the hand is partly cropped, but the image conveys suffocation and medical crisis rather than ordinary restraint.
End of Chapter 127.
Chapter-level continuity notes¶
Prescription abuse is shown as a system, not a single bad choice¶
The chapter connects hospital overdoses, parental pressure, doctors being coerced into prescriptions, online resale, and exam-season demand. Hyunmin’s dependence is therefore not treated as an isolated moral failure.
Hyunmin’s mother confuses her own status with his welfare¶
Her fantasy is not primarily that Hyunmin will enjoy medicine or find a meaningful career. She wants to be known as “a doctor’s mother.” His achievement is imagined as compensation for her ordinary life, making his health disposable when it conflicts with the exam schedule.
The “study drug” becomes chemically and psychologically compulsory¶
Hyunmin no longer believes he can read or prepare without medication. The chapter depicts craving, escalation, secrecy, overdose, hallucination-like behavior, and self-injury—far beyond the harmless productivity aid advertised online.
Na’s intervention is physically extreme because the household is sealed¶
The mother refuses to open the door and plans to keep Hyunmin hidden until the exam. Na’s rope descent and window entry are framed as the only way to reach a student in immediate danger.
The chapter ends before the rescue is resolved¶
Hyunmin is in an acute crisis when the chapter closes. Na and Hanrim have reached the apartment, but the outcome and the mother’s accountability are left for the next installment.
