Reader Images 001–003 — The history between Sera and Seo Hyuntae¶
The chapter opens on the bloody parking-garage strike from the previous cliffhanger. Seo Hyuntae’s head snaps sideways as Sera’s blow lands.
A flashback identifies him as:

In the school memory, Hyuntae has also been struck and is crouched or fallen near other students. Young Sera stands above him and warns:

She privately wonders whether one tattoo artist infected them all with a “retard virus,” noting that they openly carry weapons where anyone can see them.
Messages on Hyuntae’s phone reveal a dispute with another gang leader. A photograph shows younger members kneeling while a man boasts that he is “educating them on manners.” The exchange reads approximately:

Boknam greets Hyuntae with mock confidence, implying he expected Hyuntae to cower. The men press foreheads and trade threats.
Boknam argues that Hyuntae should control his juniors and let the matter go. Hyuntae refuses to accept Boknam entering his territory, attacking his people, and demanding obedience.
Boknam demands an enormous settlement:
IF YOU DON’T WANT TO DIE THEN HAND OVER OUR BOYS AND PAY 100 MILLION IN COMPENSATION FOR EACH OF THEM.
Hyuntae responds:
GO FUCK YOURSELF!
His phone continues receiving threats telling him to come collect his people by a deadline or face consequences.
Hyuntae thinks that Boknam has lately crossed too many lines—interfering with business and laying hands on members of his organization.
A large group of tattooed men approaches carrying steel pipes, bats, and other weapons.
Hyuntae turns toward Sera:
OY! GU SERA!
IF YOU WANT TO BE HIRED, COME WITH ME.
Sera’s eyes light up. The confrontation has become her entrance examination.
Reader Images 013–015 — A gangster brawl disappoints Sera¶
Boknam’s men surge forward.
FUCKERS! KILL THEM ALL!
Hyuntae’s gang meets them in a chaotic street fight. Pipes swing, bodies collide, and groups grapple on the pavement.
Sera stands still and watches with growing disbelief.
ARE THEY EVEN REAL GANGSTERS? THE GANGSTERS I KNEW WOULD FIGHT HEAD TO HEAD IN JONGNO.
She judges the current fighters as clumsy and disorganized.
HAH. LOOKS LIKE THERE REALLY IS A RETARD VIRUS!
EVEN MIDDLE SCHOOLERS WON’T ACT LIKE THIS…
Boknam notices her and sneers:
OH, ARE YOU SEO HYUNGTAE’S SIDE HOE?
He says Hyuntae will die tonight and offers her a place with him if she has nowhere else to go.
Sera’s eye twitches.

The gangsters stare at the fallen man.

Sera explains with a cheerful smile:

Now that the sides are clear, she has no reason to hold back.
A furious gangster raises a weapon:
THIS BITCH!
Sera taunts another man’s voice and posture:
WOW~ IS THERE A COCKROACH IN YOUR THROAT? THE SOUNDS THAT COME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH GIVE ME GOOSEBUMPS.
She identifies herself sarcastically as Seo Hyuntae’s “what,” mocking the attempt to reduce her to a girlfriend or accessory.
More men charge. Bystanders ask who she is and tell the others to ignore everyone else and gang up on her first.
Sera punches one attacker in the face and follows with a powerful body or head strike against another. Each blow is rendered with explosive Korean impact lettering and blood.

Sera stands amid a field of unconscious or groaning gangsters. Hyuntae’s own people look toward her in disbelief.
A final attacker receives an uppercut or hook that snaps his head back and sprays blood. Another is driven into the pavement.
Hyuntae watches from nearby, no longer laughing at the idea of employing her.

One subordinate asks:

Hyuntae and Sera’s conflict began before adulthood¶
Sera previously caught him with money taken through violence or intimidation and told him human beings mattered more. Hyuntae built his adult criminal identity around rejecting that lesson.
The gang recruits through visible strength rather than secrecy¶
Hyuntae initially refuses Sera because of personal disgust and gendered contempt. Her ability to destroy Boknam’s fighters changes the calculation immediately. Violence functions as the organization’s résumé.
Modern gang culture is portrayed as both dangerous and performative¶
The men boast online, carry weapons openly, and fight in large, chaotic mobs. Sera sees their behavior as less disciplined than older criminal organizations, which makes them easier to provoke but no less harmful.
Sera’s undercover identity has now been accepted¶
By defeating the rival gang and receiving Hyuntae’s explicit “you pass,” she has gained the access the agency needed. The next stage is discovering how the organization recruits minors and what crimes it assigns them.
