Reader Images 001–003 — Hanrim explains the real objective

Back at the agency, Hanrim presses one hand to her forehead while Sera prepares to leave.

THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS INCIDENT THAT INVOLVES MINORS ACTING AS GANGSTERS!

WE NEED TO FIND OUT THEIR MOTIVES… WHY KIDS ARE JOINING GANGS, THE INTENT OF THEIR RECRUITER, WE HAVE TO FIGURE THESE THINGS OUT!

Sera asks what she is expected to do. Hanrim repeats the approved plan:

AS MY SENIOR SAID, INFILTRATE THEM AND UNCOVER THEIR OPERATIONS PIECE BY PIECE.

Sera initially interprets “dealing with gangsters” as permission to beat everyone.

WE SHOULD PULL OUR JETS…

I’LL BE BACK!

Hanrim stops her and asks whether she plans to charge in and attack them. Sera says she will not hold back merely because Hyuntae attended the same school.

I HAVE NO MERCY FOR GANGSTERS!

Hanrim explains that punishment is only part of TRPA work.

THAT’S RIGHT, GIVING OUT PUNISHMENT IS IMPORTANT…

BUT INFORMING THE PUBLIC OF THESE SCHOOL PROBLEMS IS ITS MAIN FUNCTION!

She gives Sera a direct warning:

LISTEN CAREFULLY!

IF YOU FAIL THIS…

YOUR INTERNSHIP WILL BE TERMINATED.

YOUR CONTRACT WILL BE CANCELED!

Sera freezes in horror. Losing control now would cost her the job she fought to obtain.

Reader Images 004–006 — Sera is welcomed as “family”

The series title card appears.

Sera sits at a large restaurant table surrounded by shirtless or partially undressed gang members. Alcohol bottles, meat, side dishes, and glasses cover the table.

The men praise her performance in the previous fight:

YOU WERE SO FUCKING COOL!

HOW IS A GIRL SO STRONG?!

KANPAI!!

Hyuntae notices her beer:

OOH~ YOU EVEN DRINK BEER NOW? YOU WOULDN’T EVEN TOUCH IT IN HIGH SCHOOL…

Sera answers:

WELL I’M AN ADULT NOW~ EVEN MY DAD DOESN’T SAY ANYTHING…

Hyuntae asks what she did after graduation. Sera repeats the cover story that she tried to get a job and almost never got hired.

Hyuntae is genuinely shocked:

A JOB?! YOU? GU SERA?

The men toast:

TO OUR NEW MEMBER OF THE FAMILY!

KANPAI—!!

Sera drinks while privately observing that the criminals appear materially successful. She also finds their drunken habit of stripping and shouting ridiculous, comparing them to monkeys.

Reader Images 007–009 — Teenage recruits boast about criminal “careers”

Younger members try to impress Sera. One asks about the startup economy and jokes that she was going to work without getting paid.

Another introduces himself loudly as Kim Seongwon, claiming a school year while also boasting of extensive experience from juvenile detention.

I’M KIM SEONGWON! … FIRST YEAR!

I’M STILL A FIRST-YEAR STUDENT BUT I HAVE A LOT OF EXPERIENCE FROM JUVIE!

Several men in white shirts approach the table and bow deeply.

HELLO SIR.

Hyuntae tells Sera:

THESE ARE THE CUSTOMERS I TALKED ABOUT.

The visitors say they found him through social media and came to pay respect.

YOU ARE OUR ROLE MODEL!

IF YOU TAKE US, WE’LL DEVOTE OUR BODIES TO YOU!

Hyuntae asks what sort of work they do. The answer is a list of modern financial schemes:

I RUN A LOAN BUSINESS, CRYPTO, CONTRACT BUSINESS, ANYTHING I CAN DO~

He approves of their energy.

Sera looks toward the high-school-aged boys already sitting with the gang and asks why Hyuntae needs minors for these operations.

Reader Images 010–012 — The initiation test

Hyuntae demonstrates instead of answering directly.

A nearly naked, badly beaten man kneels with his hands restrained behind his back. Younger gang members kick and strike him while demanding money. The victim pleads that he already paid or handed over everything.

Hyuntae asks the recruits whether they know what they are supposed to do. When they answer correctly, he smiles:

GOOD.

LET’S TAKE A TEST THEN.

He introduces the victim:

THIS SUCKER YOU SEE IN FRONT OF YOU…

HE’S THE SON OF A BITCH THAT BORROWED MY PRECIOUS MONEY AND WAS OVERDUE THREE MONTHS!

The man insists that he gave everything he had. Hyuntae says he is not so easily fooled and sends the recruits to the “interview site.”

NOW~ YOU PASS IF YOU CAN GET IT OUT OF HIM.

The teenagers resume beating him and demanding where the money is.

Reader Images 013–015 — Reputation is the real currency

Hyuntae’s public social-media page is shown receiving messages, praise, and challenges. He explains that follower counts and online reputation translate into power inside the younger criminal world.

LOOKS LIKE YOU DON’T KNOW. THESE DAYS THE NUMBER OF FOLLOWERS IS AKIN TO POWER.

IF YOU BUILD YOUR REPUTATION, YOUR POSITION IN THE NATIONAL FEDERATION WILL RISE.

Sera watches the teenage recruits beat the bound man. She understands why “rich gangsters covered in tattoos” appear attractive to children online: the organization markets expensive clothing, cars, nightlife, and fear as proof of success.

She thinks about the publicity generated by the violence and social-media posts.

Hyuntae asks why the boys have stopped.

WHY DID YOU STOP? BEAT HIM UP MORE.

ARE YOU TIRED?

They answer:

NO… WE’RE NOT TIRED…

THIS GUY PASSED OUT.

Reader Images 016–018 — Hyuntae requires dehumanization

One recruit worries that continued beating may kill the unconscious debtor.

Hyuntae asks:

DOES WHAT’S IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES LOOK HUMAN TO YOU?

He answers his own question:

HE’S NOT A HUMAN, HE’S A LITTLE BITCH.

I’LL REMIND YOU AGAIN BUT I DON’T WORK WITH ANIMAL LOVERS.

He says the debtor cannot even pay enough to cover a minute of his drinking and therefore belongs to a lower, less evolved species.

Hyuntae looks toward Sera.

SO…

WHY DON’T YOU FINISH THE JOB, GU SERA!

The teenagers stare. One asks whether the body is human. Another, eager to mimic Hyuntae, says no and privately thinks Hyuntae looks “cool.”

Sera now faces the test that Hanrim warned about: maintaining cover would require attacking an unconscious victim.

Reader Images 019–021 — Sera rejects the test

Hyuntae says he knows Sera’s combat skills remain sharp, but claims that since high school she has developed the temperament of a monk.

NOW~ IF YOU WANT TO BE WITH US, THEN PROVE IT.

Sera smiles brightly.

YEAH, I HATE BEASTS.

ESPECIALLY CRAZY BITCHES.

Instead of striking the victim, she suddenly attacks Hyuntae. Her body drives into him with a crushing shoulder, elbow, or close-range blow that throws him downward. He screams in shock.

Sera thinks about Hanrim’s warning that failure means cancellation. She looks from the unconscious debtor to the gangsters and asks herself who the actual “beast” is.

IS HE A HUMAN? OR A BEAST…

She concludes that the people who “piss and shit everywhere”—the criminals who treat another person like an animal—are the beasts.

Hyuntae lies on the ground gasping. Sera bends toward him.

NOW THAT I LOOK CLOSELY, THERE’S ONE SUCH BITCH RIGHT HERE?

She thinks:

I’M SORRY, HANRIM.

Then orders Hyuntae:

GET UP.

Reader Image 022 — Sera abandons subtle infiltration

Sera rolls up or adjusts her sleeves and looks down with a fierce smile.

LOOKS LIKE I’M NOT CUT OUT FOR THIS.

Her final declaration is:

CRAZY BITCHES SHOULD GET BEAT UP, RIGHT?

The chapter ends with the YLAB production logo.

Chapter-level continuity notes

The gang recruits minors through aspiration and staged belonging

The feast, “family” toast, social-media followers, expensive lifestyle, and praise from adults make the organization look like a shortcut to status. The teenagers are not initially shown the legal or human cost; they are invited to perform strength and receive recognition.

Violence is both an initiation and a content strategy

The recruits are ordered to beat a captive not only to extract money but to prove they can dehumanize him. Images of punishment and bravado feed the gang’s online reputation, which in turn recruits more followers.

Hyuntae’s test is designed to destroy moral hesitation

The candidate must stop seeing the victim as human. A recruit who fears killing him is accused of loving animals and being unfit for the organization. The ability to override empathy is treated as professional qualification.

Sera’s undercover failure is a moral choice

She understands that refusing the order may end her internship. Even so, striking the unconscious debtor would make the agency complicit in the gang’s initiation ritual. She chooses immediate intervention over gathering more evidence.

The cliffhanger turns the operation into open confrontation

Sera has exposed that her loyalty is false and attacked the boss in front of his recruits. The next chapter must show whether she can protect the victim, survive the entire organization, and still uncover enough information for the TRPA case.
