Images 001–003 — The attackers rewrite the story¶
The livestreamers continue laughing at criticism.
One says:
YEAH, SCREENSHOT EVERYTHING! REPORT THESE MOTHERFUCKING SONS OF BITCHES!
KYHAHAHA! JUST GO AHEAD AND FILE A LAWSUIT!
I’LL SHOW PROOF WHEN I GET THE SETTLEMENT MONEY KEKE.
HEHEHEHE, THANKS FOR THE DONATION~!
They end the broadcast with:
GOODBYE, YOU IDIOTS!
Then one remembers another talking point:
HEESOO UNNIE, WAIT! WE DIDN’T MENTION THAT YET. THE MUTUAL ASSAULT…
The narrative switches to the injured girl in a hospital bed.
A caption summarizes the attackers’ public claim:
SHE IS A BITCH JUST LIKE US!
NO, SHE’S PROBABLY WORSE! SHE’S A BITCH WHO TALKS BEHIND PEOPLE’S BACKS ALL THE TIME!
The attackers say the victim, Park Soo-hyun, used to bully weaker students and extort money with them.
SHE WAS REALLY GOOD AT PLAYING THE VICTIM ON THE NEWS, RIGHT?
The news keeps calling it a group assault, but the girls claim it was actually a mutual fight.
They say Soo-hyun is hospitalized only as part of an act and insist she “barely got hit.”

A flashback begins with Soo-hyun introducing herself:
HELLO, I’M THE NEW TRANSFER STUDENT, PARK SOO-HYUN.
A caption identifies her:
MY NAME IS PARK SOO-HYUN, I’M A FIRST-YEAR STUDENT IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.
Her father’s public-service job forces frequent moves:
MY DAD’S JOB AS A PUBLIC SERVANT MEANS WE MOVED A LOT,
AND I CAN’T APPROACH NEW PEOPLE EASILY.
She explains that every school made her feel out of place.
Online spaces were easier:
SO, I ADAPTED WELL TO NEW PLACES WITHOUT MUCH DIFFICULTY.
EVEN IN UNFAMILIAR PLACES, THERE WERE MANY WAYS TO MAKE FRIENDS.
An open-chat list shows local neighborhood and communication rooms.
Soo-hyun becomes close to a girl named Shim So-rin through online messages.
So-rin invites her to meet in front of the station and asks for a photo. Soo-hyun sends one.
The others joke that she is at least attractive enough not to embarrass them.

Soo-hyun meets So-rin and the group.
SOO-HYUN, HERE~
A karaoke gathering follows.
The group cheers:
SOO-HYUN SINGS SO WELL!
ENCORE~! ENCORE~!
Soo-hyun narrates:
I WAS HANGING OUT WITH FRIENDS FOR THE FIRST TIME.
IT WAS A PRETTY ENJOYABLE TIME.
A girl introduces Hee-soo and several boys from a nearby school.
Soo-hyun is slightly uncomfortable that So-rin brought boys without warning, but she understands because they all met in the same chat room.
One boy arrives late.
Another student attacks him immediately:
AH, THIS LITTLE PRICK, WHY ISN’T HE HERE YET?
YOU CRAZY MOTHERFUCKER! WHAT? SLEEPING?! DO YOU WANT TO DIE?!
They kick and beat him in front of everyone while complaining that they had to pay for the karaoke because he was late.
Soo-hyun asks in shock:
WH-WHAT…? WHY ARE YOU GUYS SUDDENLY…
The group dismisses him as a loser from another school.
Images 010–012 — Violence becomes content¶
Soo-hyun wonders why Jin-sung had treated everyone earlier if the group despised him.
A girl explains that he is simply the designated loser.
Hee-soo records the beating on her phone and says:
WANT TO HIT HIM TOO? IT’S REALLY STRESS-RELIEVING.
She adjusts the camera:
OKAY KEKE THIS ANGLE IS GOOD~
The scene is not an uncontrolled quarrel. The group coordinates the attack and filming.
Soo-hyun realizes something is wrong.
Later, she receives a call from Hee-soo.
HEE-SOO UNNIE?
Hee-soo asks why she has stopped responding to messages.
Soo-hyun narrates:
SINCE THEN, I STARTED TO DISTANCE MYSELF FROM THE GUYS FROM THE CHAT ROOM.
BUT I WAS AFRAID THEY MIGHT DO SOMETHING TO ME IF I SUDDENLY LEFT…

Images 013–015 — Hee-soo escalates when Soo-hyun withdraws¶
Soo-hyun lies on her bed and lies politely into the phone:
N-NO, IT’S NOTHING. I’VE JUST BEEN WATCHING SOME INTERESTING OTT SHOWS LATELY…
Hee-soo’s tone changes:
THAT’S NOT IT~ YOU FUCKING BITCH!
Soo-hyun drops the phone in fear.
Hee-soo posts Soo-hyun’s photograph publicly with a caption ordering her to stop ignoring calls.
SHE EVEN POSTED MY PICTURE ON HER SNS TO PRESSURE ME.
THE MOCKING AND HARASSMENT CONTINUED ENDLESSLY.
Messages accuse Soo-hyun of talking behind the group’s backs and threaten retaliation if she speaks directly or indirectly.
She receives 67 missed calls.
Soo-hyun narrates:
I DON’T KNOW WHERE IT WENT WRONG,
BUT HEE-SOO UNNIE THOUGHT I WAS TALKING BEHIND HER BACK.
Because they attend different schools, Soo-hyun hopes she can simply avoid them.
Then she sees So-rin waiting outside.

So-rin waves warmly:
SOO-HYUN, IT’S BEEN A WHILE~
She asks whether Soo-hyun and Hee-soo have had a misunderstanding.
Soo-hyun denies it:
HUH? U-UM…
So-rin places an arm around her:
IT’S OKAY. I UNDERSTAND. SHE’S ALWAYS HAD DELUSIONS OF BEING GREAT.
MAYBE IT’S THAT TIME OF THE MONTH?
She proposes mediation:
IT’S FINE. LET’S GO TOGETHER AND EXPLAIN EVERYTHING PROPERLY.
I’LL CLEAR UP THE MISUNDERSTANDING SOMEHOW.
Soo-hyun is frightened but follows because she believes So-rin is her closest friend.
When they reach the meeting place, a crowd is waiting.
Hee-soo sneers:
FINALLY, YOU CRAWLED OUT, YOU BITCH!
Soo-hyun realizes:
WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON?
The crowd cheers:
FIGHT! FIGHT!
The attack is already being framed as mutual combat for the audience.

Hee-soo punches Soo-hyun in the face.
The impact flashes white.
The attacker directs the filming:
SHIM SO-RIN…
IT’S TOO DARK THERE, SO THE VIDEO QUALITY IS BAD.
GO OVER THERE… UNDER THE STREETLIGHT.
Soo-hyun asks internally:
IS THIS WHY YOU CALLED ME HERE?
She is dragged, kicked, and struck in front of dozens of students.
WHY DO I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS?
WHY AM I GETTING BEATEN UP IN FRONT OF DOZENS OF PEOPLE?

The attackers tell her to stop crying and fight back if she is upset.
Soo-hyun says she could not forgive So-rin or Hee-soo, but the laughing spectators were the worst.
THOSE KIDS WHO DON’T EVEN KNOW ME DIDN’T TRY TO STOP SOMETHING LIKE THIS AND INSTEAD RECORDED EVERYTHING WHILE LAUGHING.
Even after hospitalization, people say it was mutual assault and that she was also at fault.
WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS?
Images 022–024 — Livestream pressure reaches the hospital¶
Soo-hyun watches the livestream from her hospital bed.
One attacker mockingly asks viewers whether they can see the bruises.
A comment campaign fills the screen:
PARK SOO-HYUN APOLOGIZE
repeated again and again.
The girls celebrate:
AMAZING! HEE-SOO UNNIE! PARK SOO-HYUN IS WATCHING US RIGHT NOW?
Soo-hyun trembles:
WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING SO MUCH?!
So-rin briefly asks Hee-soo to wait, but Hee-soo continues:
THOUGH, EVEN IF IT’S THE REAL ONE, WHY SHOULD WE APOLOGIZE? KEKE

She addresses Soo-hyun directly:

Na Hwa-jin sits down between or across from the livestreamers and folds his hands.
The viewer count climbs rapidly.
One girl asks:
WHO DO YOU THINK IT IS?
Na smiles directly into the camera:
OF COURSE, TEACHERS’ RIGHTS PROTECTION BUREAU.
The livestream comments explode with recognition and panic.
The chapter ends with the YLAB logo.
Chapter-level continuity notes¶
Soo-hyun joined for friendship, not delinquency¶
Her repeated school transfers and social anxiety made online chat rooms feel safer. The same openness that helped her adapt also exposed her to a group that tested loyalty through humiliation and violence.
The attackers manufacture “mutual assault”¶
They summon a crowd, chant “fight,” tell the victim to strike back, and record selectively. The public claim that both sides participated is therefore built into the setup before the first punch.
So-rin’s betrayal is the emotional center¶
Soo-hyun follows because she sees So-rin as her closest friend and believes she will mediate. So-rin instead delivers her into the ambush and controls the filming.
The crowd expands the harm¶
Soo-hyun distinguishes anger at the direct attackers from horror at strangers who laugh, film, repost, and later judge her. The violence continues after the physical event through comments and coordinated pressure.
Juvenile status becomes a shield¶
Hee-soo openly says serious injury does not matter because juvenile offenders will receive little punishment. Na’s arrival challenges that confidence through an educational intervention outside the girls’ expected consequences.
