Images 001–003 — Na breaks the phone and removes So-rin from the crowd¶
The chapter resumes with Na smashing So-rin’s phone against the pavement.
The device bursts into glass and fragments while students around them record the scene.
Bystanders shout:
YOU SAW IT TOO, DIDN’T YOU?! THIS IS ABUSE! IT’S A VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS!
Na smiles calmly:
HAA, WELL…
I GOT IT. I’LL FIX YOUR PHONE~
Then orders:
SO GET IN THE CAR AND BE QUIET.
So-rin resists as Na drags her away from the crowd:
HEY, HEY… YOU DON’T NEED TO BE SO SAD ABOUT IT.
LET GO OF ME! THIS IS SEXUAL HARASSMENT!
She reaches desperately toward the broken device:
NO WAY…! MY PHONE…!
IT HOLDS MY ENTIRE LIFE WITHIN IT…
THIS IS TOO MUCH… IT’S JUST TOO MUCH…
The transition places her in unfamiliar plain clothing before a patterned temple screen.
???
WHAT IS THIS NOW…?
She has been brought to a Buddhist temple or monastery.
Images 004–006 — A temple retreat begins¶
Two monks sit nearby. So-rin looks down at the loose brown temple clothes she has been made to wear.
ON TOP OF THAT, WHY DO I HAVE TO WEAR THESE CLOTHES?!
IT’S SHIT! TOTALLY SHIT!
I SMELL LIKE A GRANDMA!
A monk smiles and answers:
THAT’S NOT TRUE THOUGH.
He explains:
WELL THEN, AS THE FIRST STEP TO OVERCOMING YOUR TROUBLES, LET’S START WITH 108 PROSTRATIONS.
So-rin recoils:
WHAT?!
She protests:
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ALL OF A SUDDEN?! 108 BOWS?!
The monk asks:
HAVE YOU CHANGED YOUR CLOTHES?
So-rin kicks at or throws the discarded outfit:
AH, THIS IS SO FUCKING FRUSTRATING AND HUMILIATING!
IT’S LIKE I GOT PRICKED WITH A POOL, WHY SOME TOWKATSU?!
The scanlation line is badly garbled; visually, she is complaining that the coarse clothing feels itchy and humiliating.
The monk responds:
YOU WANT ME TO BOW 108 TIMES?! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!
Then smiles serenely:
THEN FOLLOW ME.
He says:
I HEARD THAT YOU CAME HERE BURDENED BY WORLDLY TROUBLES.
Images 007–009 — The former special-forces chaplain disciplines her¶
The monk listens as So-rin refuses:
I’M NOT DOING IT!
WHAT CAN YOU EVEN DO? ARE YOU GOING TO HIT ME OR SOMETHING?
A caption identifies him:
FORMER 7XX SPECIAL OPERATIONS UNIT BUDDHIST CHAPLAIN (MAJOR)
MONK JIN-NYEOM
His peaceful expression disappears.
DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!
DON’T LEAVE ANY VEGETABLES BEHIND!
He strikes or drives So-rin down during chores or meal discipline. She screams and braces against the floor.
I DON’T SEE YOUR HANDS MOVING!
GO!!!
He forces her through repeated prostrations and physical routines:
DON’T MOVE DURING MEDITATION!
So-rin desperately answers in the honorific form he demands.
The monk establishes rules:
FROM NOW ON, YOU MUST ABSOLUTELY OBEY MY WORDS.
AND ADD ‘DA!’ OR ‘NA!’ AT THE END OF EACH SENTENCE!
She bows, coughs, and pants.
ONCE YOU ARRIVE, TAKE A DEEP BREATH~!
The chapter uses his military bearing to contrast the gentle appearance of the temple.
Images 010–012 — The first sunset without a phone¶
At a mountain overlook, So-rin kneels exhausted.
WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE AT THIS UNGODLY HOUR?
WHEN CAN I GO HOME? DO I HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE…?
Then she notices the sunset.
WOW~ IT’S SO PRETTY!
IT’S LIKE THE SUNRISE FROM THE NATIONAL ANTHEM VIDEO…
She watches other visitors take pictures.
AH, HOW NICE… IF I HAD MY PHONE, I’D ALSO HAVE TAKEN PICTURES…
The monk says:
YOU’VE WORKED HARD FOR A WEEK.
He asks:
HAVING CLEAR EYES, WHY WOULD YOU SEEK TO BORROW THE CLOUDED EYES OF A MACHINE?
So-rin looks at him.
The scene shifts to Na and Daniel discussing the same lesson.
Na says:
HOW IS IT? DOESN’T IT FEEL REFRESHING TO TAKE A BREAK FROM ALL YOUR TROUBLES AND HAVE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR?
The monk continues:
THE PROPER WAY TO APPRECIATE BEAUTY IS TO CAPTURE IT WITH YOUR EYES AND IMPRINT IT ON YOUR HEART.
The sunset fills the page.
He asks:
HOW IS IT THAT IN TODAY’S SECULAR WORLD, PEOPLE ARE OBSESSED WITH WHAT CAN BE SHOWN TO OTHERS?
The statement addresses So-rin’s habit of experiencing events only as potential uploads.
Images 013–015 — The one-week test begins¶
At the end of the retreat, Na returns So-rin’s repaired phone.
ALRIGHT, AS PROMISED, I FIXED YOUR PHONE.
She gasps:
!
Na emphasizes:
BECAUSE WHAT’S IMPORTANT HERE IS THE ONE-WEEK TIMEFRAME.
He opens the car door:
NOW, ONLY THE TRIAL REMAINS.
GOOD LUCK.
So-rin leaves the temple and immediately begins a new livestream:
HELLO EVERYONE~
IT’S BEEN A WHILE, HASN’T IT?
ACTUALLY, I WAS KIDNAPPED BY THE TEACHERS’ RIGHTS PROTECTION AGENCY FOR A WEEK.
I’LL NOW SHARE THE STORY OF HOW THE TEACHERS’ RIGHTS PROTECTION AGENCY KIDNAPPED ME.
Her account shows almost no audience.
HMM… IS IT BECAUSE I WAS GONE FOR A WEEK? THERE AREN’T MANY PEOPLE HERE…
OR IS IT BECAUSE NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW OF THIS SECOND ACCOUNT?
I’LL WAIT A BIT LONGER!
Inside the car, Daniel asks:
DO YOU THINK SHE’S ACTUALLY REFLECTING ON HER MISTAKES? IT DIDN’T APPEAR THAT WAY TO ME…
Na answers:
I BELIEVE PEOPLE DON’T CHANGE SO EASILY.
ACTUALLY, THE TEMPLE STAY WAS QUITE MEANINGLESS.
He says the real lesson is the trial that begins after she regains the phone.
Images 016–018 — Attention no longer arrives on demand¶
So-rin tries to restart her former momentum:
IT’S AN INCREDIBLE STORY. I’LL SHARE IT WHEN MORE PEOPLE JOIN!
One hour passes.
She is still alone at a table with a single viewer.
EVEN IF IT’S A SECOND ACCOUNT, I SHOULD’VE BEEN ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA BY NOW…
THIS WON’T DO! I’LL POST IT MYSELF…
She checks the phone:
DID ALL THIS HAPPEN WITHIN A WEEK?
She becomes angry:
WHAT’S GOING ON? WHY ISN’T ANYONE SHOWING UP?!
HUH?
WHAT IS THIS…?
Her real-time trends contain entirely different controversies:
- CHEF YOON HYUNG-SEOK’S POWER ABUSE CONTROVERSY
- BU RI-ING’S DOG ABUSE CONTROVERSY
- COMPOSER YOO HYUN-SEUNG’S PRESS CONFERENCE
- PAPRIKA TV BJ’S COIN CONTROVERSY
- IDOL FAN SIGNING EVENT PROBABILITY CONTROVERSY
Na’s account comments directly under the stream:
NOW YOU UNDERSTAND, RIGHT?
WHAT YOU RECEIVED WASN’T ATTENTION BUT MERELY DISPOSABLE GOSSIP…
NEITHER THE CRITICISM NOR THE SUPPORT HAD TRUE MEANING.
PEOPLE ONLY USE YOU AS DISPOSABLE GOSSIP, AND WHEN YOU’RE GONE, PEOPLE WILL JUST LOOK FOR ANOTHER GOSSIP.
COME OUT OF THAT SMALL BOX AND LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD.
Her viewer count drops to zero.
So-rin shouts:
I WASN’T JUST ME HITTING HER, IT WAS A MUTUAL ASSAULT, YOU KNOW?!
No one is listening.
Images 019–021 — Juvenile court replaces online attention¶
A narration box states:
HOWEVER…
INSTEAD OF REFLECTING ON THEIR ACTIONS, THE CHILDREN TRIED MADE A FINAL ATTEMPT TO CLEAR THEIR NAMES.
The scanlation grammar is preserved; the meaning is that they continue trying to defend themselves publicly.
A juvenile-court judge reads:
KWON HEE-SOO AND SHIM SO-RIN.
AS PER SECTION 6,
The girls sit at the defendants’ table, frightened.
Legal explanatory text states that under Sections 9 and 10 of the Media and Teachers’ Rights Protection Agency’s expected measures, they face:
A MINIMUM OF 6 MONTHS OR MORE OF JUVENILE DETENTION.
Another caption explains protective custody in a juvenile facility, typically lasting six months and extendable.
The girls panic:
WHAT? WE WON’T BE GOING TO JUVENILE DETENTION?
I-I GUESS SO!
The wording is confused by the scanlation, but the judicial order clearly places them under juvenile protective custody.
A few days later, the two are sent to juvenile court and processed.
Hee-soo suddenly hugs So-rin:
THANK GOODNESS! GOOD JOB, SO-RIN!
YOU’VE WORKED HARD TOO, UNNIE!
Na and Daniel watch from the gallery.
Images 022–023 — The girls finally understand the result¶
A suited court official looks toward Na with a knowing smile.
Na says:
HMM…
From the girls’ viewpoint beneath a table or across the courtroom, they see the official holding the paperwork.
One stammers:
T-THIS…
The closing line states:
THEY GOT A TASTE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE.
The phrase refers to being subjected to an institutional decision and public narrative they cannot edit, livestream, or manipulate.
The YLAB production logo ends the chapter.
Chapter-level continuity notes¶
The retreat is a withdrawal period, not a miraculous cure¶
Na explicitly says the temple stay itself is “meaningless.” Its purpose is to separate So-rin from constant metrics for one week so that the platform’s attention cycle can move on without her.
The monk combines spiritual language with military discipline¶
Jin-nyeom teaches awareness, food discipline, meditation, and appreciation of nature, but enforces rules with the command voice and physical intensity of a former special-forces chaplain. The method is deliberately harsher than an ordinary retreat.
The repaired phone is part of the test¶
Na does not permanently confiscate technology. He returns it and allows So-rin to discover that the audience was attached to the controversy, not to her as a person.
Social-media attention is shown as disposable¶
Within a week, several unrelated scandals have replaced So-rin in the trends. Praise and hatred both vanish because users seek the next emotionally stimulating event.
Legal consequences continue after public guidance¶
The agency’s livestream correction, account ban, and temple intervention do not replace juvenile proceedings. Hee-soo and So-rin still face protective custody based on the original assault and subsequent conduct.
The final irony¶
The girls once believed they could control every story by selecting angles, comments, and clips. In juvenile court, the official record determines the outcome, and they experience what it means to have no control over the frame.
