Get Schooled — Chapter 16¶
Complete Detailed Panel-by-Panel Transcription¶
Scope¶
This transcription follows all 119 ordered reader images embedded in the supplied Chapter 16 MHT. Readable dialogue, staff-room discussion, undercover material, and class interactions are preserved where legible.
Content note¶
The chapter contains harassment of teachers, sexualized comments toward an adult woman, collective classroom intimidation, and threatened violence.
Images 001–019 — Mr. Nam returns with his hair damaged¶
The male teacher enters the staff room with uneven patches shaved from his head.
Other staff members immediately understand that second-year Class 4 targeted him again.
Teachers discuss how difficult it has become to enter the classroom.
The homeroom teacher, Sunyoung Jung or Ms. Jung, watches silently.
Her internal response is bleak.
At least the girls acknowledge Mr. Nam as a person while tormenting him.
Sunyoung experiences something closer to complete social erasure.
Images 020–036 — Collective stonewalling¶
Sunyoung enters Class 2-4.
Students continue their private conversations as though no teacher has arrived.
They do not openly shout at her.
They simply refuse to recognize her authority, questions, or presence.
The collective silence makes ordinary teaching impossible.
Because no single student appears to be committing a dramatic offense, responsibility dissolves across the room.
Sunyoung begins the lesson while surrounded by deliberate indifference.
Images 037–052 — Na drives Hanrim to the school¶
Na and Hanrim travel together.
He says he barely recognized her with red hair.
Hanrim explains that it was her high-school color and that restoring it may make her cover as a younger student teacher more believable.
Na gives her the immediate assignment.
She will enter Soyeon Girls’ High as a student teacher and observe Class 2-4 directly.
Na will investigate related police and school records.
Hanrim is excited by the undercover role.
Images 053–069 — Sunyoung warns the newcomer¶
Hanrim is introduced to the staff and later to Class 2-4.
Sunyoung privately warns her not to become noticeable.
The students collectively target anyone who breaks their unwritten rules.
A student teacher with unusual hair, confidence, and physical presence may attract Yeri’s attention immediately.
Sunyoung advises Hanrim to lower her eyes and survive the placement quietly.
The warning reveals how completely the class has reversed the relationship between teacher and student.
Images 070–091 — Yeri performs friendliness¶
When Hanrim enters, most students initially ignore her.
Yeri suddenly approaches with exaggerated warmth.
She asks invasive personal questions about:
- Hanrim’s age;
- boyfriend;
- cosmetic surgery;
- body shape;
- and whether she received breast reduction or other procedures.
The girls laugh and treat Hanrim’s body as public property.
Hanrim answers lightly at first.
She says exercise explains part of her appearance and jokes about possible cosmetic work without giving them emotional control.
Yeri studies the reaction.
The harassment is designed to identify what embarrasses the newcomer.
Images 092–108 — The red-haired “student teacher” answers back¶
A girl in a red hoodie makes crude remarks about Hanrim’s hair and appearance.
Hanrim turns toward her.
Rather than pleading for professional respect, she responds in the same direct language the girls use.
She calls the student a nasty brat and refuses to pretend the insult was harmless curiosity.
The class becomes silent.
They are accustomed to teachers absorbing humiliation because responding creates administrative risk.
Hanrim has violated that expectation.
Images 109–119 — Yeri chooses a new target¶
The bell ends the immediate confrontation.
Students leave while whispering that the red-haired student teacher is dangerous.
Yeri does not appear intimidated.
She says they will have fun with the new “skank.”
Hanrim watches her go with equal confidence.
The chapter ends with both women recognizing the other as an opponent.
Chapter-level continuity notes¶
Stonewalling is collective violence without one obvious offender¶
The class uses coordinated nonparticipation to make teaching impossible while preserving deniability.
Sunyoung has adapted through self-erasure¶
Her advice is not cowardice so much as a survival method developed after institutional failure.
Yeri tests boundaries through sexualized questions¶
The performance of casual friendliness makes resistance appear humorless or oversensitive.
Hanrim’s cover works because she can inhabit the students’ social language¶
She does not rely only on adult authority, which the class has already learned to manipulate.
