Strips 001–002 — Daniel explains the next stage¶
Daniel formally introduces himself to Haeran as a TRPA field inspector and explains the agency’s plan.
Haeran says she knew Seoyoung came from a wealthy family but never knew what her father did.
She asks whether the TRPA leaked the connection to Ok Foods.
Daniel answers:
NO, THAT WASN’T US.
He expected the public reaction to develop on its own.
Once Seoyoung became the target of national outrage, angry online users began comparing names, businesses, old photographs, and family information.
The company connection was discovered collectively by netizens.
Daniel says this development makes Seoyoung’s next move easier to predict.
He places a book on the table.
It is an autobiography or company-success memoir written by Seoyoung’s father, Ok Youngjun.
Strips 003–004 — Ok Youngjun values the company above family¶
Daniel reads the father’s background.
Ok Youngjun graduated only from high school but built Ok Foods into a mid-sized company through extreme work and discipline.
The autobiography portrays him as a workaholic who consistently prioritizes business above family.
One section explains that when his wife demanded more time and attention, the argument became so severe that the marriage ended in divorce.
Daniel concludes that the company is not simply the father’s source of money.
It is the achievement he values above every relationship.
A flashback shows Youngjun confronting Seoyoung.
He says he allowed her to live freely on one condition: she must never damage the company.
The public boycott and stock drop violate the only rule he considered essential.
He slaps or strikes her and says:
YOU COULDN’T EVEN DO THAT?!
Her bags are already packed.
He orders her out of the house.

Strip 005 — Ok Foods officially abandons Seoyoung¶
Daniel shows Haeran the company’s public statement.
The notice is signed by Ok Youngjun.
It acknowledges that his daughter’s actions caused public anger and affected the company because of their family relationship.
The company then draws a hard boundary:
- Seoyoung owns no company shares,
- she participates in no management activity,
- her misconduct is unrelated to Ok Foods,
- and the company supports a thorough investigation and strict punishment.
Daniel summarizes:
THEY’RE DISTANCING THEMSELVES COMPLETELY.
He says Seoyoung is now likely to choose one of two strategies.
She may try to buy Haeran’s silence.
Or she may attempt another scheme to destroy Haeran’s credibility.
Strip 006 — Haeran is still frightened of the person from her memories¶
Haeran apologizes because she cannot stop trembling after the recent confrontation.
She says Seoyoung will not surrender easily and will definitely devise another attack.
HAHA… I’M PATHETIC, AREN’T I?
She is ashamed that she exposed the truth publicly yet still reacts like the schoolgirl Seoyoung controlled.
Daniel tells her she is not pathetic.
Trauma reinforced across the middle- and high-school years does not disappear because the victim intellectually understands that the danger has changed.
However, he says, Haeran eventually must overcome the internal image of Seoyoung as an untouchable demon.
Otherwise that image will continue controlling the rest of her life even if the agency solves the external case.
He asks directly:

Strips 007–008 — Seoyoung discovers what ordinary consequences feel like¶
Seoyoung goes into a convenience store with the cards and cash she once used without thinking.
Her father has blocked her bank and credit cards.
The cashier recognizes her and asks for identification.
Other young customers identify her from Haeran’s video.
Phones come out.
Seoyoung charges toward the people filming and demands that they surrender the devices.
She strikes first.
The group immediately describes its response as self-defense and fights back.
They slap, pull, shove, and kick her while recording the entire scene.
Instead of fearing her, the strangers laugh and post footage about “teaching the famous bully a lesson.”
Seoyoung flees through the street while more people recognize her.
Strips 009–010 — The “demon” becomes a publicly humiliated woman¶
A group blocks Seoyoung and openly photographs her.
She attacks one person, then is struck to the ground by several others.
Bystanders point and comment that she is the woman from Jang Haeran’s video.
Seoyoung looks around in panic.
EVERYONE’S LOOKING AT ME LIKE I’M SOME VERMIN!
She asks what she did that was so wrong and insists the events happened in the past.
The argument sounds hollow even to her.
For the first time, she experiences a social environment in which her name, father, money, and confidence do not make people step aside.
Her knees and hands are scraped.
She crouches alone and thinks about the years when others had to endure exactly this kind of public helplessness.
She still responds with anger rather than remorse.
JANG HAERAN…!
THAT FUCKING BITCH…!
Strip 011 — Seoyoung kneels outside Haeran’s home¶
Daniel accompanies Haeran home.
Haeran thanks him and says his prediction was correct: a cornered Seoyoung will make another move soon.
They find Seoyoung kneeling in the apartment hallway.
She looks exhausted, bruised, and stripped of the polished appearance she maintained earlier.
I’M SORRY!
I’M REALLY SORRY ABOUT WHAT I DID IN THE PAST!
She asks for a short conversation.
Haeran freezes.
Daniel reminds her that Seoyoung’s monstrous image is a trauma-inflated projection.
Seoyoung is cruel and dangerous, but she is not a supernatural being.
SHE’S JUST ANOTHER HUMAN.
Haeran looks down at the person who controlled her school life.
YOU’RE RIGHT…
SHE’S NOT ALL THAT AT ALL.
The chapter ends with Haeran able to see the kneeling woman as physically ordinary, even while the sincerity of the apology remains unresolved.
