Images 001–018 — Hanrim anticipated the next target¶
The chapter resumes outside Sunyoung’s residence.
Hanrim has encountered a neighboring teacher in the hall and pretends the meeting is a coincidence.
A prior conversation with Na explains her presence.
Once Yeri realized she could no longer directly control teachers, she would search for the person who reported her.
The target would probably be the individual Yeri considered most cruel or disloyal.
Na told Hanrim to watch whoever Yeri selected and stay close.
At the apartment door, Hanrim begins her count.
Images 019–039 — The door opens onto an assault¶
The students attempt to move Sunyoung and pretend nothing happened.
Yeri says they can claim the visit was counseling.
Hanrim enters.
Yeri realizes the inspector anticipated the ambush.
A student tries to intervene.
Yeri swings a pen, cutter, or other sharp object.
The blade cuts the student’s wrist or arm.
The injured accomplice cries out.
Yeri says the person stood in her way and needed a reality check.
She no longer distinguishes followers from enemies when they obstruct her escape.
Images 040–057 — Yeri escapes through the building¶
Hanrim turns toward the injured student and Sunyoung.
Yeri uses the moment to flee.
She forces open an exit, climbs or drops from a balcony, and runs through the alley.
Hanrim follows by leaping down after her.
The pursuit crosses walls, railings, and narrow urban passages.
Yeri screams that Hanrim will not get away with chasing a student like a criminal.
Hanrim answers that the home invasion and assault have already erased the fiction of an innocent schoolgirl misunderstanding.
Images 058–079 — Yeri recruits the police into her story¶
Police officers arrive after hearing the disturbance.
Yeri runs toward them crying.
She says an insane woman is trying to kill her.
The officers order Hanrim to stop.
Hanrim attempts to identify herself, but the immediate visual evidence favors Yeri:
- a frightened, injured student;
- a pursuing adult;
- and no time to review the agency file.
When officers restrain her, Hanrim breaks free.
She states that she is Lim Hanrim of the Teachers’ Rights Protection Agency and promises to visit the precinct the following day.
The shocked officers watch her resume the chase.
One says he has heard of the agency but never expected its inspector to behave like this.
Images 080–098 — Sunyoung questions Yeri’s former classmate¶
Back inside the apartment, the injured student’s arm is wrapped.
Sunyoung asks whether Yeri has always behaved this way.
The student says she and Yeri attended the same middle school.
Yeri was once pretty, outgoing, intelligent, and popular.
She was good enough academically to aim for a foreign-language high school.
Then something happened in ninth grade.
After that incident, Yeri changed completely.
Images 099–116 — The rooftop lure¶
Yeri reaches an elevated school or commercial building.
She believes she has an idea capable of destroying both Hanrim and the TRPA.
If the inspector appears to attack or push a student from a height, the scandal will overwhelm any explanation.
Hanrim reaches her.
Yeri moves toward the edge while provoking her.
She expects cameras, witnesses, or the resulting injuries to make the official agency appear responsible.
The confrontation turns physical.
Images 117–129 — The plan becomes a fall¶
Yeri slips, jumps, or deliberately creates a dangerous drop.
Hanrim lunges after her rather than allowing the student to die.
The two crash onto a lower roof or surface.
Yeri is bruised but conscious.
She still smiles, believing the event can be used against Hanrim.
The chapter ends with the truth of Yeri’s ninth-grade change still unresolved and the chase continuing into its final confrontation.
