Strip 001 — The perpetrators’ parents reverse the accusation¶
The School Violence Committee discussion continues from the previous chapter.
The sharply dressed father of Lee Sunghwan, later identified as Lee Sechang, speaks as though the adults are overreacting to ordinary childhood behavior.
He tells Giseok’s father that the son resembles the father: both are supposedly hostile and unable to accept a joke.
SOME OF YOU ARE MY AGE. DIDN’T WE PLAY GAMES LIKE THESE AS KIDS?
He distinguishes the year and a half of humiliation inflicted on Byeon Giseok from something he claims is more serious.
BUT HERE IS WHAT’S NOT A PRANK.
He produces handwritten statements from the three accused boys.
The statements claim that Giseok pulled down underwear, touched intimate areas, or otherwise sexually harassed classmates. The text is untidy and self-serving, but the accusation is explicit enough to shock Hanrim.
SEXUAL… HARASSMENT…?
Sechang says he initially intended to ignore it because it was “a kids’ matter,” but the victim’s family escalated the bullying complaint, so the other parents cannot remain silent.
The timing makes the purpose obvious: the allegation appears only after the three boys face punishment.
Strip 002 — A formal retaliatory report¶
Sechang announces that he is formally reporting Giseok for:
- school violence,
- and sexual harassment.
Giseok’s father panics at the possibility that his already traumatized son will enter the same process as an accused student.
Daniel explains the tactic.
IT’S A RETALIATORY REPORT.
Bullies sometimes report the victim in return so the public record no longer shows one clear victim and one clear perpetrator.
The parents protest that their sons could never invent such a serious claim.
Daniel says retaliatory reporting is common enough that the agency recognizes the pattern, but the claim still cannot simply be ignored.
Once a school-violence report is submitted, an investigation ordinarily must open. Even a claim later found false can force the accused child through interviews, evidence collection, and sometimes another committee hearing.
Giseok’s father asks whether his son will be punished too.
Strip 003 — The TRPA clears Giseok¶
The agency completes its investigation quickly.
Daniel and Hanrim tell Giseok’s father that the claim has not been substantiated and that no further action will be taken against his son.
WE FINISHED OUR INVESTIGATION, AND THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER ACTION.
Because the TRPA is already handling the underlying bullying case, it can compare the new statements with the established facts rather than treating the accusation in isolation.
Giseok will not be required to attend another School Violence Committee hearing.
His father thanks them and leaves with him.
Afterward, Hanrim angrily suggests issuing immediate disciplinary notices to the three boys and closing the matter.
Daniel advises patience.
The polished parent who engineered the retaliation looked far too confident to stop after one failed report.
The scene changes to Giseok’s father working alone in his small tteokbokki shop.
A new customer enters.
Strip 004 — Park Heunam threatens the snack shop¶
The visitor is identified as:
PERPETRATOR PARK SEONGIL’S FATHER — PARK HEUNAM
He owns a business, later shown to operate as a private-security company and gang.
Heunam orders a plate of tteokbokki while acting as though the shop owner should recognize his social power.
When the owner tells him to leave, Heunam casually threatens the business.
He says he can leave a one-star review, bring employees who specialize in disrupting shops, and make the place close within a month.
He then reveals the real purpose of the visit.
The perpetrators’ families will withdraw their retaliatory complaint if Giseok’s father drops the original school-violence complaint.
THERE’S THREE OF US AND ONE OF YOU.
He presents surrender as common sense: continuing will supposedly cost the victim’s family more than it can survive.
Giseok’s father rejects the coercion.
FINE, LET’S GO ALL THE WAY.
Police officers enter the shop and call the owner by name.
The intervention initially looks like rescue, but the officers have come for him.
Strip 005 — Fabricated evidence becomes a criminal case¶
At the police station, Giseok’s father is told that he has been reported for:
- trespassing,
- property damage,
- threats,
- and assault.
The complainant is Lee Sechang, Sunghwan’s father.
The submitted material includes CCTV footage from approximately twenty days earlier showing Giseok’s father at Sechang’s apartment, photographs of footprints inside, and broken household objects.
Giseok’s father says he visited to protest the bullying but never entered the residence or destroyed anything.
The officers separate this case from the false sexual-harassment complaint. The TRPA controls the school-violence investigation, but ordinary police must process the criminal report and the physical evidence presented to them.
The officer acknowledges the suspicious context but says a report supported by apparently concrete evidence cannot be discarded.
An indictment or prosecution referral is likely.
A court fight appears unavoidable.
The snack-shop owner walks home in despair.
He barely earns enough to feed his family and has no idea how he can pay for a lawyer.
Strip 006 — The shop is doxxed and vandalized¶
The pressure expands from the police station to the family’s livelihood.
The snack shop is attacked during the night. Windows and exterior surfaces are smashed or painted with phrases labeling the owner and Giseok as school-violence perpetrators.
Giseok’s father arrives and screams that they are the victims.
Daniel and Hanrim find the online post that mobilized the attackers.
The post claims that:
- Giseok habitually pulled down classmates’ underwear and touched intimate areas;
- the three accused boys were preparing to report him first;
- Giseok maliciously filed the school-violence complaint before they could act;
- the committee believes whoever reports first;
- and the school is hiding the “sexual harassment” to protect its reputation.
It names the snack shop and circulates location information.
An update says the writer was sued for defamation and invites readers to continue the fight anyway.
Comments praise the supposed whistleblower, share maps, call for the TRPA, and encourage people to visit the business together.
The false accusation has become crowdsourced punishment.
Strip 007 — The three fathers celebrate¶
In a private drinking room, the perpetrators’ fathers toast their children.
They openly discuss the strategy.
Lee Sechang wrote the online narrative.
Park Heunam supplied employees and intimidation.
The men believe that a poor snack-shop owner cannot withstand:
- a criminal trial,
- repair costs,
- lost customers,
- and a public reputation as the parent of a sexual harasser.
They expect him to become exhausted and withdraw the complaint.

At the agency, Daniel and Hanrim confirm that the post includes fabricated information and Giseok’s personal details.
They infer that the perpetrators’ parents created or directed it.
