Strip 001 — The team rescues the tied branch chiefs¶
The penthouse is engulfed in flame after Park Ma-ri detonates the trap.
Wonsul curses Ji Yun-gyeol while smoke and fire spread through the room.
Na immediately turns from the explosion toward the suspended branch chiefs.
The team cannot leave them hanging.
Daniel, Sera, Hanrim, and the white-haired technical officer begin cutting ropes and lowering the captives.
Hanrim slices through the restraints while the others catch bodies and move them away from the hottest part of the room.
Even Wonsul, who led the inspectors into the trap, must be carried.
The group gathers the injured branch chiefs and moves toward the entrance.

Strip 002 — The door has been designed to trap them¶
Hanrim reaches the main door.
It will not open.
The entrance has been altered so it cannot be unlocked normally from the inside.
Na says the construction itself is part of the murder plan.
Smoke thickens rapidly.
The captives begin coughing and losing consciousness.
The chapter cuts to Ji Yun-gyeol, Park Ma-ri, and Kim Tae-yang watching the fire from a nearby building.
They raise glasses.
GOODBYE, AGENCY.
Ma-ri says roughly ten minutes have passed.
That is more than enough time for carbon-monoxide poisoning to begin incapacitating the people inside.
They expect the apartment to become a sealed cremation chamber.
Strip 003 — Yun-gyeol planned an accidental fire¶
Yun-gyeol describes the trap’s safeguards.
The windows are reinforced and cannot be broken easily.
Ventilation routes have been blocked.
Fire trucks have not yet arrived.
The remaining evidence can be arranged to resemble a battery explosion and accidental residential fire.
Then the flames on the surveillance feed begin diminishing.
Ma-ri wonders whether the sprinklers activated.
Yun-gyeol says he personally ensured that every sprinkler was disabled.
The video reveals Na and the inspectors using fire extinguishers inside.
Yun-gyeol is confused.
He removed the extinguishers from the apartment beforehand.
The team must have brought its own emergency equipment.
Strip 004 — Emergency gear creates an escape route¶
Inside, Na and Hanrim continue trying the entrance.
The door will not move.
The white-haired technical officer opens a bag of equipment he brought as a contingency.
The kit includes tools capable of dismantling or cutting the modified door, including a power drill.
He says he never imagined the team would need the gear to escape a burning penthouse, but it was prepared in case forced entry became necessary.
The others hold cloth over their mouths and move the unconscious captives farther from the smoke.
The officer removes the door hardware while Na and Hanrim create room around him.
Once the lock and reinforced fittings are broken, the team forces the entrance open.
Portable extinguishers keep the flames from spreading to the floor below.
THE FIRE IS OUT.
At minimum, the immediate path to the corridor is clear.
Strip 005 — Yun-gyeol accepts the partial success¶
Firefighters and ambulances arrive.
Na orders Daniel and Sera to accompany the injured branch chiefs to the hospital.
Hanrim remains behind to explain the situation to the fire department.
Na says there is something else he needs to verify.
Across the street, Yun-gyeol’s group receives an assessment.
Investigators found that the penthouse entrance had been deliberately dismantled by agency equipment.
Ma-ri complains that they should have used a more decisive bomb.
Yun-gyeol disagrees.
Killing an entire Ministry agency inside a residential building would create uncontrollable political consequences.
G.Y. could be destroyed even if the inspectors died.
He says they can deal with the agency later.
For now, eliminating the rival branch heads is enough.
Strip 006 — Na appears at the observation apartment¶
A noise comes from the hallway outside Yun-gyeol’s temporary observation room.
The group turns toward the elevator.
Na Hwa-jin steps out with several officers or agency personnel behind him.
Yun-gyeol cannot understand how Na found the location.
Na points to the smashed equipment and entrance.
He says surveillance from the building next door recorded Yun-gyeol’s group clearly during daylight.
He reasoned that people who enjoy watching their own schemes would choose a front-row seat near the penthouse.
The adjacent luxury apartment offered the perfect view.
SO THIS IS WHERE YOU WERE HIDING, YOU LITTLE RATS…
Na enters the room.
Strip 007 — Kim Tae-yang stays behind¶
Na says the world does not always follow Yun-gyeol’s script.
Kim Tae-yang places himself between Na and the others.
RUN, JI YOON-GYEOL.
I’LL HOLD THAT BASTARD OFF.
Tae-yang is the powerful chief of G.Y.’s general headquarters and is treated by the others as one of the strongest active members.
He charges with a heavy punch.
Na reads the attack and counters with extraordinary accuracy.
The blow lands at a vulnerable point around Tae-yang’s neck or medulla.
The larger man drops immediately.
Na stands over him while Yun-gyeol and Ma-ri look on in shock.
The chapter ends with the escape route nearly closed and Yun-gyeol’s strongest shield already on the floor.
