Get Schooled — Chapter 2¶
Complete Detailed Panel-by-Panel Transcription¶
Source examined: the uploaded MHT archive for Chapter 2. The archive contains the complete chapter: 14 reader pages assembled from 26 embedded image strips.
Content notes: bullying, coerced alcohol consumption, physical assault, and repeated discussion of a student’s suicide.
Transcription conventions¶
- Panel numbering is editorial. The original is a continuous-scroll webtoon, so some “panels” are borderless images or linked visual beats rather than traditional boxed panels.
- Dialogue and captions are preserved as printed, including grammatical oddities, unusual punctuation, capitalization, and scanlation line-break hyphenation when it materially reflects the source.
- Visual describes only what is shown. Interpretive observations are labeled separately.
- SFX records readable effects. Where a Korean effect has no single certain English equivalent, its visible function is described rather than given a falsely precise translation.
- Character names are used when the chapter identifies them. Where a speaker cannot be established with certainty, the transcript says so.
Reader Page 1 — Scanlation Credits / Chapter Splash¶
Panel 1 — Chapter title and credits¶
Visual: A wide red-and-black credits splash fills the page. Na Hwa-jin stands on the left against a smoky crimson background. He wears an all-black suit over a black shirt. His long, shaggy black hair falls around his face and down his neck; a short mustache and pointed goatee are visible. He holds a long dark baton or rod across his shoulder, angled behind his head. His eyes are narrowed and his mouth forms a faint, confident smirk. The title TRUE EDUCATION is printed over his torso in tall outlined letters.
At the upper left, a decorative frame reads:
CHAPTER 2
At the upper right:
TRUE SCANS
Credits printed on the right:
- TRANSLATOR — AILEEN
- PROOFREADER — HANDI
- CLEANER — HANDI
- REDRAWER — HANDI
- TYPESETTER — BEHA
- QUALITY — HANDI

Small footer text states that True Scans offers an “apex quality translation” and tries to release as quickly as possible for readers.
Composition note: Na’s relaxed posture and weapon-like object establish him as controlled rather than frantic. The saturated red background foreshadows confrontation before the story resumes.
Reader Page 2 — The Principal Tries to Contain the Scandal¶
Panel 1 — Fiction disclaimer¶
Text:
THIS WORK IS A FICTIONAL STORY MADE VIRTUAL-LY. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CERTAIN PEOPLE, ORGANIZATIONS, RELIGIOUS GROUPS, ETC.
The wording is preserved exactly, including the unusual split in “virtually.”
Panel 2 — The principal identifies Na¶
Visual: Inside the principal’s office, the principal sits or leans behind his desk. He is an older, balding man in formal office clothes. His expression is exaggeratedly genial: eyes narrowed, mouth open in ingratiating laughter, sweat visible around his face. He holds up a smartphone that displays footage or an image connected to Na’s intervention from the previous chapter.
Na stands across from him, largely composed and physically still. The principal’s laughter and deferential posture contrast with the tension in his face.
Principal:
“HAHAHA... YOU SAID YOU WERE SUPERI-VISOR NA HWA-JIN?”
Panel 3 — Immediate denial and minimization¶
Visual: The principal continues talking rapidly, one hand lifted as though smoothing over a misunderstanding. His smile remains in place, but his perspiration and hunched posture signal anxiety.
Principal:
“THIS... I THINK YOU MISUNDERS-TOOD SOME THING...”
“THE LATE STUDENT PARK DAE-SEOK COMMIT-TED SUICIDE DUE TO SEXUAL FRUS-TRATION...”
“OUR SCHOOL DOESN’T TOLERATE ANY KIND OF BULLYING OR VIOLENCE.”
Interpretive note: He does not investigate Na’s concern. He immediately supplies a humiliating explanation for the dead student and uses it to protect the school’s reputation.
Panel 4 — Institutional boasting¶
Visual: The principal gestures toward framed certificates, plaques, or institutional markers around the office. The sequence visually broadens from his face to the prestige objects he uses as a shield.
Principal:
“OF COURSE~ THREE YEARS AGO, WE WERE DEEMED AS AN EXCELLENT SCHOOL BY THE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION...”
“THAT INCLUDES ACKNOWLEDGMENT FROM THE CURRENT REPRESENTATI-VE’S THIRD-TERM LAWMA-KER, RYU KWANG-PIL.”
“WE’VE ALSO PRODUCED A LOT OF EXCELLENT GRADUATES.”
“SO PLEASE TALK TO THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION.”
Translation note: The sentence about Ryu Kwang-pil is awkwardly constructed in the scanlation. The apparent meaning is that the school enjoys recognition or political protection connected to third-term lawmaker Ryu Kwang-pil.
Panel 5 — Na notices the attempted payoff¶
Visual: The principal begins taking something out—apparently from a drawer or hidden space near the desk. Na’s attention drops toward the movement. His expression hardens.
Na Hwa-jin:
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING? TAKE IT OUT RI-GHT NOW.”
Principal:
“OH, YES! YES!”
Panel 6 — The envelope¶
Visual: A thick white envelope is placed on the desktop. Its bulk is emphasized; it is not a symbolic token but a substantial packet, strongly implying cash. The principal presents it with both hands and a servile smile.
Principal:
“IT’S NOT MUCH, BUT IT CAN PAY FOR A NEW CAR.”
Panel 7 — Na’s answer¶
Visual: Na raises one leg and plants his shoe directly on top of the envelope. The first beat freezes the sole over the bribe; the next drives it down against the desk with a heavy impact. The principal recoils, eyes wide.
SFX: A small Korean placement/step effect accompanies the foot coming down, followed by a large Korean impact effect equivalent in function to a heavy THUD / BANG.
Reaction text:
“!!”
Na Hwa-jin:
“PRINCIPAL, I’M AFRAID YOU’RE MISTAKEN...”
Visual emphasis: The envelope remains under Na’s shoe. He rejects not merely the money but the assumption that he can be folded into the school’s usual system of influence and concealment.
Reader Page 3 — Na Rejects the School’s Script¶
Panel 1 — No license, no favor to sell¶
Visual: Na stands over the desk with one foot still pinning the envelope. His shoulders are loose and one hand may remain in his pocket, making the principal’s panic look even more undignified. Na speaks without shouting.
Na Hwa-jin:
“I’M A MEMBER OF THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, BUT I’M NOT SCHOLARLY AND I DON’T HAVE A TEACHER’S LICENSE.”
“I DON’T HAVE THE ABILITY NOR AUTHORITY TO JUDGE THE SCHOOL, SO THIS DOESN’T ADD UP TO ANYTHING.”
“SO PLEASE STOP ACTING UP.”
“IT’S VERY EMBARRASSING TO SEE SOMEONE YOUR AGE DO THAT.”
Interpretive note: Na defines his role in a deliberately paradoxical way. He is not offering a favorable academic evaluation, so the principal’s prestige, paperwork, and bribe cannot purchase the outcome he assumes is being negotiated.
Panel 2 — The principal’s private indignation¶
Visual: Close-up on the principal. His forced smile collapses into offended disbelief. His face tightens, and dark shading stresses his resentment.
Principal, internal thought:
“A YOUNG MAN WHO TALKS LIKE THAT TO THO-SE OLDER THAN HIM...”
Character note: Even after attempting bribery, the principal frames Na’s conduct as a breach of age hierarchy rather than confronting his own misconduct.
Panel 3 — Na pauses at the door¶
Visual: Na has turned to leave. He stands in or near the doorway with his back partly toward the principal, then glances over his shoulder as if remembering an administrative detail.
Na Hwa-jin:
“OH, I FORGOT!”
Panel 4 — The electric shaver¶
Visual: Na flicks or activates a small electric grooming device. He runs it over the stubble along his jaw while asking his question. The mundane buzzing is intentionally incongruous with the subject of a dead student.
SFX: Korean buzzing effect, functionally BZZZZ / WHIRRR.
Na Hwa-jin:
“THE STUDENT NAMED PARK DAE-SEOK WHO COMMIT-TED SUICIDE... WHAT GRADE AND CLASS WAS HE IN?”
Panel 5 — The principal hesitates¶
Visual: The principal freezes. His eyes shift and his mouth hangs partly open. The delay implies that this simple question is more dangerous to him than the broad conversation about school reputation.
Principal:
“AH, YES... WELL, THAT IS...”
Panel 6 — Series title card¶
Visual: A dark title composition interrupts the scene. The Korean title 참교육 appears prominently with production credits and the YLAB mark.
Text: Korean creator/production credits are printed around the title. No additional English story dialogue appears in this beat.
Panel 7 — Class 2–5¶
Visual: A school corridor or doorway fills the frame. The classroom placard clearly reads:
2 - 5
The chapter cuts from the principal’s office directly to the class associated with Park Dae-seok.
Panel 8 — An order from inside¶
Visual: Before the full room is revealed, a forceful speech bubble intrudes over the classroom transition.
Hak-jae:
“OPEN YOUR MOUTH!”
Reader Page 4 — Forced Drinking in Class 2–5¶
Panel 1 — Hak-jae restrains Byung-soo¶
Visual: Kim Hak-jae, a broad, aggressive student with a shaved or extremely close-cropped head, eyebrow jewelry, and large dark ear gauges, crowds over Park Byung-soo. Hak-jae wears a purple-and-teal casual jacket over his uniform clothes. One arm controls Byung-soo’s head or upper body while the other tips a clear bottle toward his mouth.
Byung-soo is smaller, already visibly distressed, and unable to pull away. His cheeks and eye area look swollen from prior blows. The bottle’s innocuous-looking label contributes to the concealment of its alcoholic contents.
Hak-jae:
“THERE~ DON’T LEAVE A SINGLE DROP. BOTTOMS UP!”
Panel 2 — Byung-soo chokes¶
Visual: Liquid spills around Byung-soo’s lips. His eyes squeeze shut, saliva or alcohol runs down his chin, and his body jerks with coughing.
Byung-soo:
“KECK! KECK!”
Panel 3 — Hak-jae treats choking as disobedience¶
Visual: Hak-jae draws back, not with concern but irritation. His face twists as he sees that some of the liquid has been expelled.
Hak-jae:
“HUH? WHAT? DID YOU SPIT IT OUT?”
“HEY, YOU FUCKING BITCH! DIDN’T I TELL YOU TO DRINK IT IN ONE SHOT?!”
Panel 4 — The punch¶
Visual: Hak-jae’s fist slams into Byung-soo’s face. The impact is rendered with speed lines and a large Korean sound effect. Byung-soo’s head snaps aside.
SFX: Large Korean punch impact, functionally WHAM / CRACK.
Panel 5 — Mocking the victim¶
Visual: Byung-soo hangs forward, eyes unfocused, drooling and sweating. His face is visibly puffy and bruised. Hak-jae looks down on him with contempt rather than urgency.
Hak-jae:
“WHY CAN’T YOU JUST DRINK THIS GOOD THING? YOU CAN’T EVEN DRINK TO SAVE YOUR LIFE...”
Panel 6 — Cleanup order¶
Visual: The perspective widens to show the classroom before the morning bell. Other students occupy desks or stand nearby. No one intervenes. Hak-jae tosses out instructions as though the abuse is routine housekeeping.
Hak-jae:
“STOP THAT AND START CLEANING. IT’S ALMOST TIME FOR THE BELL TO RING.”
“OH, YOU PUNK~ ISN’T THIS ALL FOR YOU?”
Interpretive note: “All for you” reframes coercion as a favor, a common tactic of abusers who demand gratitude from the person they are harming.
Panel 7 — Jun-hyung remains face-down¶
Visual: Ryu Jun-hyung is introduced at his desk. He wears a vivid red patterned jacket over an open white shirt and dark undershirt. His head is buried in folded arms, suggesting a hangover or deliberate disengagement. Even while apparently inactive, he occupies a socially central position: Hak-jae addresses him for approval.
Hak-jae:
“JUN-HYUNG, YOU’RE STILL HUNGOVER, RIGHT?”
“IF THE TEACHER SAYS THEY SMELL SO-METHING, THEN I’LL USE THIS KID AS AN EXCU-SE! ALRIGHT?”
Panel 8 — Jun-hyung refuses responsibility, not the abuse¶
Visual: Jun-hyung does not lift his head. His reply is flat and irritated. He is not objecting to Byung-soo’s treatment; he is distancing himself from Hak-jae’s clumsy cover story.
Jun-hyung:
“DON’T GET YOURSELF FUCK-ED. I’M THE ONE WHO’S STILL HUNGOVER.”
“I DON’T REAL-LY CARE IF I GET CAUGHT.”
Panel 9 — Political protection¶
Visual: Hak-jae grins, reassured by the social order that surrounds Jun-hyung. The panel emphasizes his confidence that ordinary disciplinary rules do not apply.
Hak-jae:
“WELL, FUCK... WHAT FEARLESS TEACHER, WOULD TAKE ON THE SON OF A HIGH-RANKING LAW-MAKER?”
Contextual note: The statement identifies Jun-hyung as the politically connected student referenced indirectly in the principal’s office.
Reader Page 5 — The Class Watches Na Before Meeting Him¶
Panel 1 — A video passed around¶
Visual: A group of girls and nearby students cluster around a smartphone. Their posture is casual and amused. The phone shows footage of Na’s earlier intervention in the school, apparently recorded and circulated among students.
Student 1:
“HEY, DID YOU SEE THIS? IT’S SO FUNNY!”
Student 2:
“WHAT’S THIS HAHAHA A TEACHER BEA-TING A STU-DENT?”
Panel 2 — The premise sounds fictional to them¶
Visual: More students look over shoulders or lean toward the screen. Smiles and laughter dominate; nobody treats the encounter as a serious challenge to the school’s hierarchy.
Student:
“HE SAID THAT HE’S A PART OF THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, AND THAT HE CAN BEAT STUDENTS UP.”
Another student:
“WHAT, IS THIS SOME KIND OF WEBTOON SETTING?”
Panel 3 — Recognition of the uniform¶
Visual: The phone image or surrounding uniforms invite comparison. A student peers more closely, suddenly wondering whether the video was filmed locally.
Student:
“ISN’T THIS OUR SCHOOL? THE UNIFORM THE STUDENT WAS WEARING IS OURS, RIGHT?”
Panel 4 — Jun-hyung dismisses the clue¶
Visual: Jun-hyung remains slumped face-down. Without looking at the device, he answers in a lazy drawl. His body language suggests that the question does not merit his full attention.
Jun-hyung:
“AH~ MANY UNIFORMS LOOK THE SAME.”
Panel 5 — A beat of silence¶
Text:
“......”
Visual: The students pause only briefly. The ellipsis creates a small pocket of unease before the classroom door opens.
Panel 6 — Na arrives¶
Visual: The classroom door slides open. Na enters carrying a dark blue attendance folder. He now looks more groomed than in the principal’s office, though his long hair remains loose and partly covers his eyes. His all-black clothing sharply contrasts with the white shirts, navy vests, and red ties of the students.
SFX: Korean door-opening/sliding sound.
Panel 7 — A greeting swallowed by noise¶
Visual: Na stands at the lectern or teacher’s desk. The room continues its private conversations. He gives a slightly strained, almost awkward smile, as though testing an ordinary teacherly tone.
Na Hwa-jin:
“AHAHA...”
“HEY, KIDS... HE...LLO?”
Student reaction text:
“???”
Panel 8 — Hak-jae challenges his presence¶
Visual: Hak-jae looks toward the front without showing respect. His expression is openly suspicious and confrontational.
Hak-jae:
“WHO ARE YOU, MI-STER?”
Na Hwa-jin:
“EH? DIDN’T THE HEAD TEACHER TELL YOU?”
Reader Page 6 — The “Temporary Teacher” Is Ignored¶
Panel 1 — Na gives the cover identity¶
Visual: Na stands beneath the classroom flag and in front of the green chalkboard. He keeps the attendance folder near the lectern and speaks as though beginning a conventional first homeroom.
Na Hwa-jin:
“YESTERDAY, THIS CLASS’ HOMEROOM TEACHER, MR. BURDEN, CAUGHT A BAD FLU AND NOW NEEDS TO TAKE A FEW WEEKS OFF SCHOOL.”
“I’M [TEMPORARY TEACHER] NA HWA-JIN, WHO WILL BE YOUR HOME ROOM TEACHER DURING HIS ABSENCE.”
“IT’S EMBARRAS-SING, BUT THIS IS ACTUALLY MY FIRST TIME TEACHING.”
Small handwritten student aside:
“Hey, did he just say temporary teacher?”
Translation note: “Mr. Burden” appears to be the scanlation’s rendered name or joke-like translation for the absent homeroom teacher.
Panel 2 — Polite introduction, no response¶
Na Hwa-jin:
“I HOPE WE CAN ALL GET ALONG FROM NOW ON.”
Visual: The students do not orient toward him as a class. Several remain turned sideways, bent over phones, or engaged in unrelated conversations.
Panel 3 — Overlapping chatter¶
Visual: The webtoon scatters speech bubbles through the room to emphasize that Na’s introduction is merely background noise to them.
Students, overlapping:
“I TOLD YOU, IT’S NOT OUR SCHOOL!”
“DO YOU TO EAT AT YEOPGI TTEOKBOKKI LATER?”
“DON’T YOU THINK WE GOT ROBBED BY THE LAST EPISODE OF THE UNIVERSE’S STAR YESTERDAY?”
“SOMEONE AT THE SCHOOL NEXT DOOR SAID IT’S REALLY PRETTY!”
“WHEN ARE YOU PLANNING ON TAKING ME ON A BLIND DATE, YOU MOTHER-FUCKER!”
SFX: Repeated Korean chatter effects, visually equivalent to MURMUR / CLAMOR / CHATTER.
Text note: “DO YOU TO EAT...” is preserved from the scanlation and appears to omit “want.”
Panel 4 — Na grips the lectern¶
Visual: Close-up of Na’s hand closing around the edge of the wooden lectern. The fingers tighten, but he does not smash it or raise his voice. His face shifts into a closed-eye smile that can initially be read as patience but carries obvious restraint.
Panel 5 — Attendance as the next test¶
Na Hwa-jin:
“SHALL WE START THE ATTENDANCE SO THAT I COULD FAMILIA-RIZE MYSELF WITH YOUR FACES?”
Visual: He opens the dark blue folder. The classroom continues talking.
Panel 6 — Names called into the noise¶
Na Hwa-jin:
“KANG SUN-YOUNG.”
“KO KYUNG-CHAN.”
“KIM NARAE.”
“KIM DONG-KYU.”
“KIM HAK-JAE.”
“RYU JUN-HYUNG.”
Visual: Individual students may glance up or answer casually, but the room never becomes orderly. Jun-hyung remains physically disengaged at his desk.
Reader Page 7 — Park Dae-seok’s Name¶
Panel 1 — The deliberate call¶
Visual: Na’s face is shown with a faint, knowing smile. His eyes are shaded by his hair or glasses, giving the moment a controlled, ominous quality.
Na Hwa-jin:
“PARK DAE-SEOK.”
Panel 2 — The room changes¶
Visual: The noisy classroom is rendered as dark silhouettes. Numerous white eyes stare toward the front. The ordinary chatter cuts out at once.
Sound/atmosphere: No dialogue. The silence itself is the response.
Interpretive note: Na already knows Dae-seok is dead. Calling the name as though it were routine forces the class to reveal what the dead boy means to them and how they speak about him when challenged.
Panel 3 — Na plays ignorant¶
Na Hwa-jin:
“OH? I DON’T SEE PARK DAE-SEOK? IS HE ABSENT TODAY?”
Panel 4 — No empty desk¶
Visual: Na looks over the rows, apparently counting occupied seats. Students remain stiff or watchful.
Na Hwa-jin:
“HUH? I DON’T SEE ANY EMPTY DESKS THOUGH...”
Visual detail: Jun-hyung’s eyes are shown in close-up beneath his hair. Unlike the students who laugh, he remains quiet and observant.
Panel 5 — Hak-jae answers for the room¶
Visual: Hak-jae leans back or turns toward Na with a broad, contemptuous expression. He treats the death as material for a joke.
Hak-jae:
“THAT MO-THERFUCKER IS GONE!”
“THAT LOOSE SCREW JUMPED OFF THE BUILDING BE-CAUSE OF SEXUAL PESSIMISM.”
Panel 6 — Pantomiming the fall¶
Visual: Hak-jae crosses or angles his arms and body in a crude physical imitation of someone dropping from a building. He grins while classmates watch.
Hak-jae:
“HE FELL LIKE THIS AND DIED!”
Panel 7 — Mocking Na’s supposed mistake¶
Hak-jae:
“OH, YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE PRELIMINARY RESEARCH BEFO-RE YOU CAME HERE.”
“NOW, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THIS ATMOSPHERE?”
Visual: Hak-jae looks pleased with himself, believing Na has embarrassed himself and lost control before homeroom has even begun.
Panel 8 — Na declines the bait¶
Visual: Rather than reacting visibly to the obscenity or mockery, Na closes the moment with polite acknowledgment. His composure prevents Hak-jae from learning where the limit is.
Na Hwa-jin:
“OH~ I SEE!”
“THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME KNOW.”
Reader Page 8 — The Smell of Alcohol¶
Panel 1 — Attendance resumes¶
Visual: Na lowers his gaze to the folder as if nothing unusual has happened.
Na Hwa-jin:
“I’LL CONTI-NUE CALLING ATTEN-DANCE NOW.”
“PARK BYUNG-SOO.”
Panel 2 — Byung-soo cannot hide his condition¶
Visual: Byung-soo sits weakly at his desk. His face is swollen, one eye area looks damaged, and sweat beads on his skin. He coughs or struggles to answer. His posture is folded inward and defensive.
Byung-soo / breathing sound: A small gasp or choked response is printed beside him.
Panel 3 — Na approaches the obvious injury¶
Visual: Na bends down close to Byung-soo, bringing his face near enough to examine him and smell his breath. The proximity makes the abused student tense.
Na Hwa-jin:
“WHAT? WHY DOES PARK BYUNG-SOO’S FACE LOOK SO PUFFY? ARE YOU SICK?”
Na, internal observation:
“HUH...? THIS SMELL...?”
Panel 4 — Hak-jae supplies the prepared alibi¶
Visual: Hak-jae immediately speaks over Byung-soo. His volume and speed suggest that this explanation was rehearsed before class.
Hak-jae:
“THAT BITCH DRANK A BOTTLE OF SOJU IN THE CLASSROOM EARLIER!”
“WHAT KIND OF STRESS ARE YOU UNDER THIS EARLY IN THE MORNING?”
“HE JUST TOOK OUT A BOTTLE OF SOJU AND ENDED UP LOOKING LIKE THAT!”
“ONE-SHOTTING A BOTTLE...”
Interpretive note: Hak-jae combines accusation with mock concern, presenting Byung-soo as self-destructive and therefore responsible for his own visible condition.
Panel 5 — Na smells Hak-jae too¶
Visual: Na shifts from Byung-soo to Hak-jae and leans uncomfortably close. Hak-jae’s confidence falters slightly as Na uses direct sensory evidence rather than accepting the spoken story.
Na Hwa-jin:
“OH? STUDENT HAK-JAE ALSO SMELLS LIKE ALCOHOL, DID YOU DRINK WITH HIM?”
Hak-jae:
“NO, I’M NEXT TO HIM, SO...”
Panel 6 — The distinction¶
Visual: Na’s face remains calm and almost conversational. The students watch, not yet sure whether he is guessing or already knows.
Na Hwa-jin:
“YOU KNOW WHAT?”
“YOU SMELL A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM SOMEONE WHO JUST DRANK.”
Reader Page 9 — Na Reconstructs the Abuse¶
Panel 1 — Fresh alcohol versus a hangover¶
Visual: Na speaks while keeping Hak-jae under close observation. Hak-jae’s eyes widen and sweat forms as the explanation becomes specific.
Na Hwa-jin:
“UHM... THIS MIGHT JUST BE MY IMAGINATION, BUT...”
“STUDENT HAK-JAE SMELLS LIKE HE’S STILL HUNGOVER FROM LAST NIGHT’S DRINKS.”
“MAYBE YOU FORCED STUDENT BYUNG-SOO TO AVOID GETTING CAUGHT YOURSELF?”
Reasoning note: Byung-soo smells like someone who drank moments ago, while Hak-jae carries the stale odor of the previous night. The mismatch supports Na’s inference that the bottle forced on Byung-soo was intended to create a convenient explanation for the room’s alcohol smell.
Panel 2 — Hak-jae lashes out verbally¶
Visual: Hak-jae’s face contorts. His attempt to laugh off the accusation gives way to anger.
Hak-jae:
“YOU’RE MAKING UP SCENARIOS, YOU CRAZY...!”
Panel 3 — The question beneath the question¶
Visual: Na’s expression darkens. He lowers or removes his glasses, exposing a direct, severe stare. The background turns black, and the next speech bubble is also black, visually separating the accusation from his earlier casual tone.
Na Hwa-jin:
“IN SUCH A MANNER...”
“DID YOU ALSO KILL PARK DAE-SEOK?”
Panel 4 — Hak-jae’s shock¶
Visual: Hak-jae’s bravado disappears for a beat. His pupils contract and his mouth opens unevenly.
Hak-jae:
“KI... KILL?!”
“THE FUCK! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! WHO KILLED WHO...!”
Panel 5 — Chair attack¶
Visual: Hak-jae grabs a classroom chair and swings or thrusts it toward Na. The chair’s metal frame cuts diagonally through the panel with speed lines. Students in the background recoil but do not intervene.
SFX: Large Korean swing/motion effect.
Panel 6 — Na intercepts him¶
Visual: Na moves inside the chair’s arc. Instead of backing away, he catches or redirects the attack and drives his fingers into the corner of Hak-jae’s mouth/inside his cheek. Hak-jae’s face distorts painfully as Na gains leverage over his head and posture.
Na Hwa-jin:
“I WAS JUST PLAN-NING TO WATCH THE SCHOOL ATMOSPHERE QUIETLY TODAY...”
“Why did you~ have to be so annoying?”
Text note: The second sentence is printed with mixed capitalization in the scanlation; it is preserved here as shown.
Panel 7 — The throw begins¶
Visual: Using the grip on Hak-jae’s mouth and the momentum of the failed chair attack, Na whips his upper body sideways. Hak-jae’s feet leave their stable base. His torso twists and the classroom floor rushes up beneath him.
SFX: Korean motion effect leading into the impact on the next reader page.
Reader Page 10 — The First Demonstration¶
Panel 1 — Hak-jae hits the floor¶
Visual: Hak-jae crashes down hard among the desks. His body is inverted or sharply twisted in the impact composition, emphasizing that the larger student has been thrown with little visible effort from Na.
SFX: Huge Korean crash effect, functionally CRASH / THUD.
Hak-jae:
“HUUAK!”
Additional ragged breathing or gasping follows as he tries to recover.
Panel 2 — Na addresses the class president¶
Visual: Na remains standing and immediately returns to practical instruction. He does not look winded. The class president, a male student in the standard navy vest and red tie, stiffens at being called.
Na Hwa-jin:
“CLASS PRE-SIDENT!”
Class president:
“YES... SIR!”
Panel 3 — Byung-soo is finally removed from danger¶
Na Hwa-jin:
“TAKE STUDENT BYUNG-SOO TO THE NURSE’S OFFICE AND PUT HIM TO BED.”
Class president:
“YES!”
Visual: The president moves toward Byung-soo. This is the first organized response in the room that centers the victim’s condition rather than the bullies’ alibi.
Panel 4 — Na names the school’s culture¶
Visual: Na turns his attention back to the room. Hak-jae lies stunned on the floor behind or beside him. Students sit frozen, their earlier chatter gone.
Na Hwa-jin:
“I LOOKED AT THIS SCHOOL YESTER-DAY AND TODAY...”
“THERE ARE THREE CULTURES IN THIS SCHOOL.”
Panel 5 — First culture¶
Na Hwa-jin:
“FIRST.”
“TEACHERS ARE TREATED LIKE DOGS.”
Visual: The framing places Na at the front while rows of students look toward him. The statement describes not a single rude student but a normalized hierarchy in which adults have surrendered authority.
Panel 6 — Second culture¶
Na Hwa-jin:
“SECOND, THE CUL-TURE OF BULLYING THAT IS PRACTICED ALL OVER THE SCHOOL.”
Visual: Byung-soo’s battered condition and Hak-jae’s position on the floor remain within the chapter’s visual memory, making the claim concrete rather than abstract.
Panel 7 — Hak-jae tries to rise¶
Visual: Hak-jae pushes up from the floor, face bruised and furious. He begins a curse under his breath, trying to restore his status through another challenge.
Hak-jae:
“THIS SHITTY...”
Panel 8 — Attendance folder strike¶
Visual: Na swings the dark blue attendance folder down across Hak-jae’s head or face. The ordinary school object becomes a blunt punctuation mark. Hak-jae is knocked back to the floor before he can finish speaking.
SFX: Large Korean smack impact, functionally SMACK / WHAP.
Panel 9 — The third culture begins¶
Na Hwa-jin:
“AND FINALLY, THE THIRD IS...”
The sentence carries into the next page while Hak-jae remains incapacitated at Na’s feet.
Reader Page 11 — The Office of Protection¶
Panel 1 — “Even when one of your classmates died”¶
Visual: Extreme close-up of Hak-jae’s face. One eye is wide with shock, sweat runs along his skin, and his cheek is visibly compressed or bruised. The image then pulls back to show him prone beside Na’s black shoe.
Na Hwa-jin:
“EVEN WHEN ONE OF YOUR CLASSMA-TES DIED...”
SFX: A vertical Korean thudding/settling effect appears alongside Hak-jae’s body, reinforcing that he has just been driven back down.
Panel 2 — The third culture named¶
Visual: Hak-jae lies face-down or on his side, one fist clenched against the floor. Na’s leg and shoe dominate the foreground. The bully who controlled the room minutes earlier is now physically below the speaker.
Na Hwa-jin:
“IT’S THE COMPLACENCY OF THE SCHOOL THAT WOULD LEAD TO THE SAME THING HAPPENING AGAIN!”
Interpretive note: Na’s accusation includes more than the students who directly attacked Dae-seok. It encompasses the principal, passive teachers, witnesses, and classmates who normalized the conditions that produced his death.
Panel 3 — The real introduction¶
Visual: Na returns to the lectern and places one hand on the dark blue folder. Hak-jae remains collapsed on the floor beside him. Na’s posture is relaxed, one hand in a pocket, but the class now watches in silence.
Na Hwa-jin:
“LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF AGAIN.”
“I’M A MEMBER OF THE OFFICE OF PROTECTION, DIRECTIVE TO THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION...”
“I’M NA HWA-JIN, THE FIELD SUPERVISOR.”
Panel 4 — First case¶
Visual: Rear view of Na facing the class. His long hair is gathered loosely at the nape, and his black suit forms a dark silhouette against the ordinary classroom. Students sit stiffly beyond him.
Na Hwa-jin:
“AND SINCE THE ESTAB-LISHMENT OF THE OFFICE OF PROTECTION,”
“YOU ARE THE UNLU-CKY ONES WHOSE SCHOOL WERE CHOSEN AS THE FIRST CASE.”
Text note: “Whose school were chosen” is preserved from the scanlation.
Panel 5 — He tells them where to look¶
Visual: Several students pull out phones. One bespectacled student in a navy vest looks uneasily at his screen while others behind him search as directed.
Na Hwa-jin:
“IF YOU’RE CURIOUS ABOUT THE REASON WHY THIS CRAPPY ORGANIZATION WAS CREATED,”
“SEARCH ‘ILJIN LAWFUL TRUE EDUCATION’ ON NEWTUBE.”
Panel 6 — The comment count¶
Visual: A video-site interface fills the frame. The screen shows:
A faint field below reads:
ADD A PUBLIC COMMENT...
Na Hwa-jin:
“WHAT DO YOU THINK?”
Panel 7 — Public approval displayed¶
Visual: The comment list is shown in detail. Na’s speech bubble overlaps the page above it.
Na Hwa-jin:
“YOU GUYS DON’T HAVE MANY MORALS, DO YOU?”
Visible comments:
- HOU — 18 HOURS AGO: “THIS IS GOOD! THOSE KINDS HAVE TO BE BEATEN UP TO LEARN.”
- SUWON — 19 HOURS AGO: “IT’S KEKEKEKE LEGAL CORPORAL PUNISHMENT KEKEKEKEKEKEKEKEKEKE”
- OU — 8 HOURS AGO: “LAWMAKER JUN-HYUNG SAID THAT ILJIN SHOULD BE VANQUISHED.”
- DAE-MEORI — 2 HOURS AGO: “THAT’S ME!”
- KAATTEU — 2 HOURS AGO: “KEKEKEKEKEKEKE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION”
Like counts and reply controls appear beside the comments. The exact username/comment wording is reproduced from the visible scanlation; “Lawmaker Jun-hyung” is awkward and may be a translation or naming error.
Panel 8 — Cause and consequence¶
Visual: Close-up on Na. His face is heavily shadowed, eyes half-lidded and exhausted-looking rather than triumphant. Black speech bubbles contrast with the white page.
Na Hwa-jin:
“WHICH MEANS ALL OF THIS IS...”
“THIS IS ALL THE RESULT OF YOUR OWN ACTIONS.”
Panel 9 — Return to attendance¶
Visual: Na raises his voice at the front of the room. The Korean flag is visible behind him, underscoring the official setting and the legitimacy of his intervention.
Na Hwa-jin:
“NOW, IF YOU’VE FIGURED OUT THE MOOD, SETTLE DOWN”
The statement carries directly into the next page’s demand for classroom order.
Reader Page 12 — Two Kinds of Authority¶
Panel 1 — Na asks for the obvious classroom response¶
Visual: Na stands squarely in front of the chalkboard, mouth open as he projects across the room. His arms spread slightly from his sides. A male student in the foreground glances around nervously; behind him, a female student remains wrapped in a blanket or large outer layer.
Na Hwa-jin:
“WHY ARE YOU ALL JUST TALKING EVEN AS I’M CALLING ATTENDANCE?”
“NOW TELL ME, WHAT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO?”
Panel 2 — Hak-jae as the example¶
Visual: Na points over his shoulder or toward the floor. Hak-jae lies sprawled behind him in his purple jacket, visibly battered and unable to resume control.
Na Hwa-jin:
“WHAT? ARE WE JUST GOING TO KEEP STARING AT EACH OTHER?”
“KIDS, YOU ALL HAVE TO STRETCH WITHIN 3 SE-CONDS. OTHERWISE, YOU’LL END UP LIKE HIM.”
Translation note: “Stretch” is the printed wording. In context, Na is ordering the seated students to stand up or straighten themselves for attendance/classroom discipline.
Panel 3 — The count starts¶
Visual: Students hurriedly push up from their desks. Chairs scrape and bodies rise unevenly. Some students smile nervously; others look frightened. Korean movement effects appear beside the rising chairs and legs.
Na Hwa-jin:
“ONE~”
Panel 4 — Nearly everyone is up¶
Visual: Overhead view of the classroom. Most students are standing with both hands on their desks. One conspicuous figure remains face-down at the center-rear area: Jun-hyung in his red patterned jacket.
Na Hwa-jin:
“TWO~”
Panel 5 — Jun-hyung’s first command¶
Visual: Close view from behind Jun-hyung’s bowed head. He has not looked up, but his speech bubble is thickly outlined and visually heavier than the students’ chatter.
Jun-hyung:
“SIT.”
Panel 6 — The order spreads through the room¶
Visual: A student who had begun standing looks over his shoulder. Jun-hyung remains folded over his desk, controlling the room without changing posture.
Jun-hyung:
“DON’T LISTEN TO HIM.”
“EVERYONE, SIT DOWN.”
Panel 7 — Na is amused by the interruption¶
Visual: Close-up on Na’s face. One eye is partly hidden by hair; the visible eye narrows, and his lips curve into a small, interested smile.
Na Hwa-jin:
“I HAVEN’T EVEN COUNTED TO THREE?”
Panel 8 — Jun-hyung repeats himself¶
Visual: Jun-hyung remains face-down, cheek against his folded arms, as though the confrontation is too trivial to deserve eye contact.
Jun-hyung:
“SIT.”
Panel 9 — The room obeys Jun-hyung¶
Visual: Wide overhead shot. Students drop back into their chairs in a rush. Desks and bodies are framed by vertical speed lines. Jun-hyung is the still center of the movement.
Jun-hyung, shouting:
“SIT DOWN, YOU BASTARDS!”
Authority note: Na has proven that he can physically overpower Hak-jae, yet the class’s conditioned response is still to obey Jun-hyung. The scene distinguishes fear of immediate violence from the deeper social power Jun-hyung already possesses.
Reader Page 13 — Ryu Jun-hyung¶
Panel 1 — Students sit back down¶
Visual: Chairs scrape and students settle hurriedly. Several faces show sweat and divided attention as they look between Na and Jun-hyung. Korean movement effects accompany the seats and bodies lowering.
Panel 2 — Na studies the source of the command¶
Visual: Narrow close-up of Na’s eye through strands of black hair. The pupil turns toward Jun-hyung. His expression is not startled; he appears to have found the actual center of the class hierarchy.
Panel 3 — Jun-hyung finally lifts his head¶
Visual: Jun-hyung sits upright and turns toward the front. The red patterned jacket, open white shirt, dark undershirt, black trousers, earrings, and relaxed slouch give him a deliberately non-uniform appearance. He remains seated while everyone else watches.
Jun-hyung:
“WHAT SHOULD I DO?”
Panel 4 — He states the class’s hierarchy plainly¶
Visual: Low-angle view of Jun-hyung reclining in his chair with both hands in his trouser pockets. He smiles lazily, chin tipped up. The low angle enlarges him and makes the classroom disappear behind his confidence.
Jun-hyung:
“THESE BASTARDS ARE MORE SCARED OF ME THAN THEY ARE OF YOU.”
“I THINK I’M SCARIER THAN ANY TEACHER.”
Panel 5 — Na checks the attendance folder¶
Visual: Na holds the dark blue folder up and looks down at the class record. His brows draw together slightly as he matches the speaker to the listed student.
Panel 6 — Identification card / name insert¶
Visual: A school-record style portrait panel shows Jun-hyung in a white shirt over an olive or green undershirt, wearing a small pendant necklace. Beneath the image, bold text reads:
RYU JUN-HYUNG
Panel 7 — Na calls him forward¶
Visual: Na lowers the folder. His face is serious, the dark blue cover still visible at the bottom of the frame. The perspective then widens from behind Na toward Jun-hyung’s desk.
Na Hwa-jin:
“RYU JUN-HYUNG, COME TO THE FRONT!”
Panel 8 — Refusal¶
Visual: Na is seen from behind at the lectern, one hand resting on the wood. Students turn to watch Jun-hyung, who remains seated in the back half of the room.
Jun-hyung:
“IF I DON’T WANT TO?”
Panel 9 — Na’s smiling warning¶
Visual: Extreme side close-up on Na. He bares his teeth in a broad, almost playful grin. The expression makes the warning sound less like a bluff than an invitation.
Na Hwa-jin:
“IF YOU DON’T~ WON’T YOU BE IN BIG TROUBLE?”
Panel 10 — Jun-hyung accepts the challenge without moving¶
Visual: Matching close-up on Jun-hyung’s face. His eyes narrow, and the corner of his mouth lifts. He appears entertained rather than intimidated.
Jun-hyung:
“COME AT ME, THEN WE’LL SEE WHO’LL BE IN TROUBLE...”
Reader Page 14 — The Test Begins¶
Panel 1 — Distance across the classroom¶
Visual: Wide shot from behind Jun-hyung. His red jacket fills the right foreground while Na stands far away at the front-left beside the lectern and chalkboard. Other students sit between them, turning their heads to follow the exchange. Ceiling lights, a projector, the Korean flag, chalkboard, lockers, and rows of desks establish the full distance Na must cross.
No one speaks in this wide beat. The composition turns the aisle into a confrontation line.
Panel 2 — Na accepts¶
Visual: Close-up of Na’s face. His eyes are closed beneath his hair and his grin opens fully, showing his teeth. The expression is cheerful on the surface but predatory in context.
Na Hwa-jin:
“THEN SHALL WE TEST IT?”
Panel 3 — Footsteps¶
Visual: Large Korean footstep effects appear in the white space before the final panel, creating a measured pause between Na’s answer and his approach.
SFX: Korean 뚜벅, 뚜벅 — deliberate, steady footsteps; functionally STEP... STEP...
Panel 4 — Na walks toward Jun-hyung¶
Visual: Low floor-level view framed between Na’s black trouser legs and shoes as he advances down the aisle. Jun-hyung remains seated in the distance, legs apart beneath the desk, looking directly toward him. The classroom furniture creates a tunnel between the two men. Neither breaks posture: Na advances without rushing, and Jun-hyung waits without standing.
The chapter ends before physical contact or the result of the “test.”
End credits¶
Visual/text: Korean staff names appear at the lower right, followed by:
기획/제작
and the red YLAB logo.
Chapter-Level Character and Visual Notes¶
Na Hwa-jin¶
Na moves through three deliberately contrasting modes in this chapter:
- Dry contempt in the principal’s office. He does not rage at the attempted bribe. He humiliates the principal by treating the behavior as childish and embarrassing.
- Awkward substitute teacher. In Class 2–5 he initially smiles, introduces himself politely, and begins attendance even while being ignored. This performance lets the students reveal their habitual behavior without first adapting to a visible threat.
- Field supervisor. Once Hak-jae attacks, Na stops maintaining the ordinary teacher fiction. His physical control is immediate, but he still uses institutional language, the attendance folder, the class president, and a formal self-introduction. The violence is framed as part of a larger intervention rather than an uncontrolled outburst.
His most important investigative act is sensory and behavioral rather than technological: he notices that Byung-soo carries the smell of freshly consumed alcohol while Hak-jae smells hungover. That difference exposes the forced-drinking alibi.
Kim Hak-jae¶
Hak-jae is the visible classroom enforcer. His defining behaviors are coercion, improvisational lying, and confidence that political protection extends to him through Jun-hyung. His authority proves shallow once directly challenged: after Na throws him, the class does not rally to defend him, and Jun-hyung later overrides the entire room without even lifting his head.
Park Byung-soo¶
Byung-soo has almost no verbal agency in the chapter. His condition supplies evidence through the art: swelling, coughing, drool, sweat, fear, and the fresh alcohol odor. Hak-jae’s cover story depends on making those injuries appear self-inflicted. Na’s order to the class president is the first time an authority figure in the room acts to protect him rather than use him.
Ryu Jun-hyung¶
Jun-hyung is introduced indirectly before he becomes active. He remains face-down through the forced drinking, the cleanup plan, Na’s entrance, Dae-seok’s name, Hak-jae’s attack, and Hak-jae’s defeat. This apparent passivity is not powerlessness. The instant he says “Sit,” the class reverses its response to Na. His authority is social and institutional: classmates fear him, Hak-jae relies on his political family connection, and the principal has already invoked lawmaker Ryu Kwang-pil while trying to deter scrutiny.
Park Dae-seok’s absence¶
Dae-seok never appears alive in the chapter, but his absence organizes the attendance sequence. Na calls his name as though he is still a member of the class, revealing that:
- there is no preserved empty desk or visible memorial space;
- Hak-jae is comfortable degrading him after death;
- the principal’s explanation and Hak-jae’s explanation use closely related language about sexual frustration or pessimism;
- the class knows the name is dangerous but has normalized silence and mockery around it.
Na’s third “culture”—complacency after a classmate’s death—connects the classroom’s behavior to the administration’s concealment.
Exact Closing Dialogue Sequence¶
For quick reference, the chapter’s final exchange is:
Na Hwa-jin:
“RYU JUN-HYUNG, COME TO THE FRONT!”
Ryu Jun-hyung:
“IF I DON’T WANT TO?”
Na Hwa-jin:
“IF YOU DON’T~ WON’T YOU BE IN BIG TROUBLE?”
Ryu Jun-hyung:
“COME AT ME, THEN WE’LL SEE WHO’LL BE IN TROUBLE...”
Na Hwa-jin:
“THEN SHALL WE TEST IT?”
SFX: deliberate footsteps, 뚜벅, 뚜벅.
Cutoff: Na is walking down the aisle toward the still-seated Jun-hyung when Chapter 2 ends.
