Strip 001 — Cover and credits¶
The standard Imperfect Comics red-and-black cover identifies Chapter 39. Na appears on the title graphic. Production credits and support links frame the page.
Strip 002 — Warning¶
A black content warning precedes the continuation of Lim Han-rim’s confrontation with Kang Ja-yeon.
Strip 003 — Lim comes for Ja-yeon¶
Lim stands in a school room holding evidence on her phone.
“YOU WANTED TO SEE ME? MISS SCHOOL BULLY.”
Ja-yeon sits frozen at a desk. Students crowd the doorway, their phones already raised.
Lim tells her:
“FOLLOW ME.”
Ja-yeon’s face tightens. She understands that the confrontation will not remain private.
Strip 004 — Escape attempt¶
Ja-yeon bolts from the room. She runs through a corridor while students turn to watch.
Lim’s words follow her:
“DO YOU THINK YOU CAN ESCAPE?”
The perspective stays behind Ja-yeon, making the corridor look like a tunnel of witnesses. Her eye is shown in close-up, widened with panic.
Strip 005 — The school watches¶
Ja-yeon races past groups of uniformed students. Several whisper, film, or step aside.
Online-style comments and murmured insults appear around her—variations of “she’s a real bitch,” “I knew it,” and “she’s trash.” The exact smallest lines are partially obscured.
A dark-haired student holding a red phone recognizes her and calls out:
“PARK EUN-HA…”
The name triggers Ja-yeon’s fear and rage.
Strip 006 — Public confrontation¶
Ja-yeon reaches an open atrium or stairwell. Eun-ha and other students stand nearby.
A projectile or object strikes Ja-yeon in the face/head with a large impact SFX. Students lean over the railings above.
The crowd begins shouting:
“APOLOGIZE!”
Ja-yeon staggers, sweating and bleeding slightly.
Strip 007 — The chant¶
The demand spreads through the building:
“APOLOGIZE!”
“FUCKING APOLOGIZE! JUST DO IT!”
Ja-yeon stands below while students on multiple levels watch and chant. Some appear motivated by anger, others by the spectacle.
Ja-yeon tries to justify herself:
“I KNEW YOU WERE LIKE THIS EVER SINCE YOU STARTED FLIRTING WITH ME!”
A voice from the crowd says:
“EUN-HA, JUST BEAT HER UP!”
The scene resembles a public trial conducted by students rather than a controlled disciplinary process.
Strip 008 — Media summary¶
A video thumbnail appears with language about Kang Ja-yeon’s school-bullying controversy and “behind the bullying.”
A report identifies Lim Han-rim as the Teacher’s Rights Protection Agency’s second inspector and presents “facts” about her.
The narrator explains that the Ja-yeon controversy is being repeated every day, and that a new revelation claims her older sister, Kang Soo-yeon, was behind the abuse.
Strip 009 — A former teammate speaks¶
On Bom So-hee’s channel, one of Ja-yeon’s middle-school teammates appears.
The report says:
“KANG JA-YEON WAS JUST THE PERPETRATOR”
and that the bullying took place under orders from her sister, Kang Soo-yeon.
The video passes one million views in an hour. Additional comments and testimonies appear, giving the accusation credibility.
Strip 010 — Panic at home¶
Ja-yeon enters a room where Soo-yeon sits calmly.
“UNNIE…”
Ja-yeon breaks down:
“YEONG… WHAT DO I DO NOW?”
She says there are countless malicious comments on her Byeolgram account and that people are threatening to kill her.
“DO I HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE?”
Soo-yeon approaches barefoot.
“JA-YEON, IT’S OKAY.”
Her soothing tone is deceptive.
Strip 011 — Soo-yeon’s plan¶
Soo-yeon says:
“PEOPLE DO THAT BECAUSE WE’RE POPULAR.”
“IT’LL BE FORGOTTEN IN A MONTH OR TWO.”
She tells Ja-yeon to maintain a remorseful expression and record an apology video.
“KEEP THIS EXPRESSION AND RECORD AN APOLOGY VIDEO.”
Ja-yeon begins to calm, believing her sister has a rescue plan.
Strip 012 — The script¶
Soo-yeon smiles and dictates:
“HERE’S THE STORY, LISTEN CAREFULLY.”
“I ADMIT TO THE BULLYING. I’LL GIVE UP ON THE NATIONAL TEAM AND BASKETBALL.”
“BUT EVERYTHING ABOUT MY SISTER IS A SLANDER.”
“EVERYTHING IS MY FAULT, SO I HOPE THE MISUNDERSTANDING IS RESOLVED.”
Ja-yeon realizes the plan requires her to accept every consequence alone.
“WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?! YOU WANT ME TO SAY I DID IT ALONE?!”
She begins referring to what she did to Park Eun-ha, but Soo-yeon cuts her off.
Strip 013 — Physical coercion¶
Soo-yeon grabs Ja-yeon by the hair and yanks her downward.
“BITCH, YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION DON’T YOU?”
Ja-yeon screams.
Soo-yeon explains coldly:
“IF WE GO ON LIKE THIS, WE’LL BOTH DIE.”
“I WANT TO LIVE WHEN THIS CASE IS BURIED LATER.”
Ja-yeon shouts:
“I’M NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING TO YOU!”
The power imbalance between the sisters is exposed. Ja-yeon has been a perpetrator, but she is also disposable to Soo-yeon.
Strip 014 — The apology video¶
Ja-yeon sits alone in a dark cap and plain shirt, recording herself.
“I’M KANG JA-YEON…”
She admits the school-bullying suspicions are true and apologizes to the victim.
“I WILL QUIT FROM THE WOMEN’S NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM.”
“I WILL DO MY BEST TO COOPERATE WITH THE TEACHER’S RIGHTS PROTECTION AGENCY AND THE POLICE WITH THE INVESTIGATION.”
She then repeats the lie Soo-yeon ordered:
“BUT OUT OF ALL THESE SUSPICIONS THERE IS ONE THAT IS NOT TRUE…”
“IT’S THE RUMOUR ABOUT MY SISTER KANG SOO-YEON IS BEHIND THE BULLYING.”
She claims Soo-yeon had no idea and that Ja-yeon used her sister’s reputation to terrorize teammates.
Strip 015 — Public sympathy splits¶
Ja-yeon continues:
“MY SISTER HAS BEEN WORKING OUT SINCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.”
“I’LL TAKE ALL THE RESPONSIBILITY AND ANGER.”
“MY POOR SISTER… PLEASE STOP BOTHERING HER…”
A comment section appears. Some viewers accept the defense of Soo-yeon; others continue insulting Ja-yeon and questioning whether the sisters are inseparable.
The apology succeeds in creating doubt, even though it was coerced.
Strip 016 — Retirement letter¶
A teammate holds a document labeled:
“RETIREMENT LETTER”
She tells Lim:
“JA-YEON SUBMITTED THIS RETIREMENT LETTER.”
The team explains that Ja-yeon has not returned to school and is staying home.
Soo-yeon watches, trying to appear detached.
Strip 017 — Lim confronts Soo-yeon¶
Lim gives the document to Soo-yeon.
“SHE DIDN’T COME TO SCHOOL AND IS ONLY STAYING HOME.”
“I’LL LEAVE IT UP TO YOU, SO DO AS YOU PLEASE.”
Lim then says:
“YEAH, YOU SENT YOUR LITTLE SISTER TO HELL AND YOU SURVIVED ALONE.”
She looks directly at Soo-yeon.
“HOW DO YOU FEEL?”
The question strips away the apology video’s sentimental language.
Strip 018 — Soo-yeon demands the agency leave¶
Soo-yeon tells Lim:
“STOP WITH THE RIDICULOUS SPECULATIONS AND WRAP UP THE INVESTIGATION ON JA-YEON AND GO BACK.”
She argues that the competition is close and that a basketball outsider is coaching the team.
Lim replies:
“WELL, IT’S UP TO ME WHEN I WANT TO LEAVE…”
She produces a sheet of paper.
“HERE,”
Strip 019 — The starting lineup¶
Lim says:
“I ALREADY DECIDED THE STARTING MEMBERS.”
The handwritten list includes names and positions, among them Park Eun-ha. The exact romanization of every other name is partially small, but the visible list includes Choi Sun-young, Kim Ji-sun, Park Eun-ha, Kang Soo-yeon, and Lee Hyun-hee.
The team reacts in shock:
“ARE YOU CRAZY?!”
Soo-yeon protests that a woman who does not even know basketball will lead the team and that Lim is starting someone who was not even close to being a candidate.
Strip 020 — Lim’s authority as acting coach¶
Soo-yeon demands an explanation.
Lim remains relaxed:
“HAVEN’T YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT THIS?”
She points out that the competition is near and an “outsider” has already been entrusted with coaching them; therefore, the lineup is within her authority.
Strip 021 — Why Lim targeted Ja-yeon first¶
Lim explains:
“WHY DID I ONLY GO TO KANG JA-YEON’S TALK?”
“IT’S BECAUSE THAT’S THE BEST PUNISHMENT I CAN GIVE TO HER.”
Ja-yeon’s dependence on public attention and Soo-yeon’s approval made exposure and abandonment especially destructive.
Lim turns to Soo-yeon:
“BUT KANG SOO-YEON, THAT’S NOT THE RIGHT WAY FOR YOU.”
“A KID LIKE YOU NEEDS TO DESTROY HER HIGH NOSED PRIDE FIRST.”
Strip 022 — The jealousy named¶
Lim asks:
“THE REASON WHY YOU’VE BEEN BOTHERING PARK EUN-HA!”
She answers her own question:
“IT’S BECAUSE SHE’S BETTER AT BASKETBALL THAN YOU, RIGHT?”
Soo-yeon’s face contorts.
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING?!”
Eun-ha stands nearby, stunned that the hidden reason has been spoken aloud.
Strip 023 — One-on-one challenge¶
Lim says:
“IF WHAT I’M SAYING IS WRONG THEN PROVE IT.”
She orders:
“GO 1 ON 1.”
Soo-yeon turns toward Eun-ha.
Lim calls:
“PARK EUN-HA.”
“WARM UP.”
“I’LL SET IT UP.”
The chapter ends as Eun-ha is forced into a direct basketball contest with the captain who has abused her.
Promotional and recruitment material follows.
Chapter-level observations¶
1. Ja-yeon is punished through the same public sphere she weaponized¶
The online audience that defended her turns against her. The result is not clean justice: she faces threats and mob humiliation, showing that viral punishment can reproduce abuse.
2. Soo-yeon’s “protection” is exploitation¶
Her apology script protects only Soo-yeon. Ja-yeon is ordered to sacrifice her career and accept criminal responsibility so the older sister can remain eligible.
3. Lim individualizes punishment¶
She recognizes that Ja-yeon’s weakness is dependence and public image, while Soo-yeon’s weakness is athletic pride. The one-on-one match is designed specifically for Soo-yeon.
4. Eun-ha’s selection is both practical and symbolic¶
Putting Eun-ha in the starting lineup restores her identity as an athlete, not merely a victim. It also forces Soo-yeon to confront the talent she tried to suppress.
