Transcription conventions

  • Dialogue / narration reproduces the readable English scanlation wording, including awkward grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and line-break quirks where they affect delivery.
  • Visual description records composition, movement, facial expression, body language, setting, and significant background information.
  • SFX identifies prominent Korean sound lettering and describes the visible action it accompanies. A precise English equivalent is not invented where the lettering is untranslated.
  • Interpretive notes are explicitly labeled. They are used only where staging, an obscured object, or a character’s intention is not stated outright.
  • The injured brown-haired student who carries out the knife attack is not clearly named in this chapter, so he is referred to as the injured student rather than assigned an identity.

Reader Page 1

Panel 1 — Fiction disclaimer

A nearly black page fades into a charcoal-gray gradient near the bottom. Centered in large hand-lettered white capitals is the standard disclaimer:

THIS WORK IS A
FICTIONAL STORY MADE VIRTUALLY.
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH
CERTAIN PEOPLE, ORGANIZATIONS,
RELIGIOUS GROUPS, ETC.

The empty black field creates a pause before the chapter returns to the unresolved attack from the preceding episode.

Panel 2 — Blood on the pavement

The view drops to the pale outdoor paving stones. Several small, irregular splashes of fresh red blood dot the ground. Large vertical Korean SFX lettering sits beside the stains, indicating approaching or repeated footsteps. No person is yet visible, so the blood becomes the first confirmation that the concealed object in the prior chapter really was a knife.

Panel 3 — The attacker and Na Hwa-jin

A low, tilted full-body shot reveals the injured brown-haired student bent forward in front of Na Hwa-jin. The student’s uniform is dirty and rumpled; one side of his face is extensively bruised and swollen. His posture is rigid with fear and effort. Na stands in black clothes, one leg set back, looking down at him with almost unnerving calm.

Their hands meet at waist level. The student has driven a small knife into Na’s left side, but Na has already seized and controlled the student’s knife hand. A narrow smear of blood marks the point of contact.

The staging immediately undercuts the attempted ambush: the student is the one who looks trapped.

Panel 4 — The student calls out

A close-up shows the injured student’s face against a bright blue sky and greenery. His round glasses catch the light; sweat beads down his cheeks; his mouth is wide open in panic.

MISTER!

His shout sounds less like triumph than alarm at what he has just done.

Panel 5 — Panic at close range

An extreme close-up crops the student’s mouth, bruised cheek, and terrified eye. Blood runs from his nose. A jagged bubble reads:

GASP!

Beside him, Na’s visible eye remains half-lidded and steady beneath his long black hair. The contrast is stark: the attacker is shaking, while the stabbed man is studying him.

Panel 6 — Na immobilizes him

Na twists the student’s wrist and arm. The student’s shoulders jerk upward and his head snaps back as he screams:

ARGH!

Large Korean impact/movement lettering overlaps their bodies. Na holds him at very close range, controlling the knife hand without appearing hurried.

Na says:

KID...!
AREN’T YOU CUTE?

The scanlation’s phrasing is unusual. Visually, Na’s expression is not affectionate; the line reads as mocking disbelief at the student’s weak, reluctant attack.

Panel 7 — The wound is shallow

Na looks down toward his side and raises one hand dismissively. A small streak of blood has spread across the side of his black shirt and onto the pavement, but he is standing easily.

IT’S NOT EVEN A
CENTIMETER DEEP IN!

A vertical Korean SFX accompanies a slight movement of his hand and torso.

Panel 8 — Grip on the wrist

A tight panel focuses on Na’s hand clamping around the student’s wrist. Tendons stand out in both hands. Korean lettering beside the grip conveys a forceful grab or wrench.

Panel 9 — Na scolds the attacker

The student is folded backward under Na’s control, face contorted and teeth clenched. Na holds the knife arm firmly while speaking in a matter-of-fact tone:

IF A GUY PULLS
A KNIFE OUT TO SOME-
ONE, THEN HE SHOULD AT
LEAST STAB THAT PERSON
PROPERLY. SO WHAT’S
WITH THIS?

The line does not encourage violence. In context, Na is exposing the student’s lack of intent and the coercion behind the staged attack.

Panel 10 — “Follow me”

The injured student’s face fills the frame, one eye squeezed shut and the other streaming with fear. Na’s hand remains locked around his wrist.

FOLLOW
ME, BOY!

The student grimaces as Na starts dragging him away.

Panel 11 — Series title

A large white field opens beneath the confrontation. A dark navy silhouette of Na stands with a baton or long object resting over one shoulder. Red, white, and blue geometric stripes form a badge behind him. The Korean series logo appears in heavy block lettering, with YLAB printed in a red rectangle beneath.

Reader Page 2

Panel 1 — Creator credits

At the top of a white page, small black capitals read:

WRITTEN CHAE YONG TAEK
ILLUSTRATED HANGARAM

Panel 2 — The student is thrown into the room

The injured student lands hard on the floor of a small school office, legs splayed and one hand bracing behind him. A broad Korean impact SFX fills the upper portion of the panel. His shoes skid across the blue-gray flooring.

Panel 3 — Door closing

Na enters behind him and pulls the door closed. The student looks over from the floor, startled. Korean creaking/closing lettering appears vertically beside the doorknob.

Panel 4 — Special Counseling Office

The door is shown from the hallway. A sheet of white paper has been taped to it with the handwritten English label:

Special
Counseling
Office

A small Korean closing SFX appears near the knob, sealing the two of them inside.

Panel 5 — Command to sit

The room contains a table, folding chairs, tall gray lockers, books, a window with blue blinds, and a small camera or lamp-like device mounted near the back. Na stands near the lockers and points the student toward a chair.

SIT.

The student remains half-crouched, wary and breathing hard.

Panel 6 — Na unbuttons his shirt

A close-up shows Na’s fingers pulling open the front of his black shirt. Korean SFX repeats around the motion. His exposed chest and abdomen reveal an athletic build marked by numerous old scars.

Panel 7 — The knife wound

Na turns his back and side toward the student. A fresh red wound stains the left side of his lower back/waist. It is shallow compared with the many older scars: thin cuts, broader healed marks, and a prominent stitched scar near the lower back.

The student stares at the extent of Na’s injuries, eyes widening.

Panel 8 — Na’s scarred back

A larger rear view emphasizes Na’s muscular shoulders and the network of old scars across his back. The fresh blood is a small patch among much older damage. Na reaches toward a cabinet or drawer without showing obvious pain.

The student’s response is a silent bubble:

...!!

Panel 9 — Mirror and first-aid supplies

On the table lies a rectangular hand mirror or reflective panel beside a small clear case containing bandages, cotton, and other medical supplies.

Panel 10 — The mirror is tossed over

The student catches the rectangular mirror awkwardly against his chest, fingers spread in surprise. Korean SFX indicates the quick toss.

HERE!

Panel 11 — Na gives an instruction

Still shirtless and turned partly away, Na says:

SHOW ME
THE WOUND IN THE
MIRROR.

The student realizes that Na is making him look directly at the result of the stabbing while helping locate and treat it.

Reader Page 3

Panel 1 — The student faces what he did

Na sits on the edge of the table, torso turned so the bloody wound is visible. The injured student kneels or crouches nearby and raises the mirror. His bruised face is shown in profile as he looks from the reflection to Na’s side.

Na holds a small medical item in one hand and remains relaxed despite the blood.

Panel 2 — Mirror positioned behind Na

The student carefully angles the mirror toward Na’s back. Repeated Korean SFX conveys tiny adjustments. Na looks over his shoulder, evaluating the wound through the reflection.

Panel 3 — No killing intent

A close-up of Na’s face shows a slight, knowing smile.

THERE WAS
NO KILLING INTENT
AT THE OTHER END
OF THE KNIFE, WAS
THERE?

The student’s eyes flick sideways. Sweat gathers at his temple.

Panel 4 — The direct question

Na touches or indicates the cut while looking at the student.

WHO
ORDERED
YOU?

A tight inset shows the red wound and the edge of the mirror. The student’s expression stiffens.

Panel 5 — Na already knows

Na leans closer, voice still controlled but plainly impatient:

I KNOW
WHO ORDERED
IT, SO HURRY
UP AND SPIT IT
OUT! HUH?

The student glances away, refusing to name Jun-hyung.

Panel 6 — Knife on the table

The knife used in the attack appears in a narrow panel. Its short metal blade catches the light. A Korean click or tap SFX marks it being picked up or set into position.

Panel 7 — Denial

The student throws his hands forward and blurts:

NO ONE
DIDN’T... NO ONE
ORDERED ME! IT’S
JUST THAT I...

The double negative and grammar are retained from the scanlation. Na spins the knife in one hand with quick circular Korean SFX, making the student recoil.

Panel 8 — Blade slammed down

Na drives the blade point-first into the tabletop between the student’s spread fingers. The student’s hand jerks but remains pinned by fear. A large Korean impact SFX overlays the knife.

The gesture demonstrates both control and the seriousness of the charge. Na does not stab the student.

Panel 9 — Attempted-murder warning

Na grabs the student by the front of his uniform and pulls him close.

HEY, THIS
COULD MAKE YOU
ROT IN A CELL FOR
YEARS BECAUSE
OF ATTEMPTED
MURDER!

The student’s eyes widen. His back arches away from Na.

Na continues:

NO MATTER
HOW SCARY THEY
ARE, ARE YOU REALLY
GONNA GO TO JAIL
FOR THEM?

Panel 10 — The threat shifts direction

An extreme close-up shows Na’s eye and lowered brow.

IF YOU
DON’T KNOW
WHO’S SCA-
RIER, ME OR
THEM,

The student’s visible eye fills the lower part of the page, reflecting pure alarm.

SHOULD I
JUST SHOW
YOU?

The line is intimidation, but it also forces the student to recognize that Jun-hyung is not the only person in the school capable of confronting power.

Reader Page 4

Panel 1 — The student gives in

A wider view shows both of them beside the table. Na is still shirtless, one hand braced on the tabletop. The student has moved upright but remains hunched and tense.

The student exhales and says:

SIGH~ I
GOT IT! JUST
GET OUT OF
HERE.

The wording is ambiguous about who should leave. Visually, he appears to be conceding that he will talk if Na stops crowding him.

Panel 2 — Na turns away

Na reaches for his black jacket or shirt by the lockers and smiles to himself. His posture loosens as if he is about to end the interrogation.

He says:

PEOPLE LIKE
YOU DON’T CHANGE
EVEN IF THERE’S SOME-
ONE WHO’S WILLING
TO HELP YOU
AROUND.

Panel 3 — Deliberate provocation

Na continues while facing away:

EVEN WHEN
A CHILD IS GIVEN A
CHANCE, HE JUST
BLOWS IT.

The student’s face darkens. His teeth clench and a Korean grinding SFX appears beside him.

Na finishes:

YOU’LL SPEND
ALL YOUR LIFE LIKE
THAT, KID.

This functions as reverse psychology: Na is deliberately framing silence as permanent cowardice.

Panel 4 — The student explodes

The student bends forward, both hands over his head, overwhelmed.

WHAT DO
YOU WANT ME TO
DO? HE COULD
KILL ME!

Na pauses in the foreground and listens.

Panel 5 — Dae-seok’s name

The student begins haltingly:

DAE-SEOK
DISOBEYED JUN-
HYUNG AND...

His body is shown doubled over against a dark background. A gray bubble below reads:

SO...
SO...

The repetition suggests he is struggling to put the events into words.

Panel 6 — Dae-seok before the bullying

The page enters a flashback. Park Dae-seok stands laughing with several male classmates in casual clothes. Friends sling arms over his shoulders; his expression is open and relaxed.

Narration reads:

UNLIKE A
GUY LIKE ME,
DAE-SEOK...

HE WAS AN
INSIDER WHO STUDIED
WELL AND GOT ALONG
WITH OTHERS.

“Insider” is the scanlation’s term for a socially successful, well-connected student.

Panel 7 — Jun-hyung’s circle

Jun-hyung is shown outside with older-looking boys. He wears casual street clothes and holds a cigarette. One senior displays something on a phone while another figure stands nearby.

Narration:

ON THE OTHER SPECTRUM,
JUN-HYUNG WAS HANGING OUT
WITH SENIORS. HE’S BEEN LIKE
THAT EVER SINCE HE ENTERED
THE SCHOOL.

A SCHOOL THAT
WAS DOMINATED
BY BULLIES.

Panel 8 — Separate social worlds

The narration continues over the beginning of another school image:

JUN-HYUNG
AND DAE-SEOK WE-
REN’T INTERESTED
IN EACH OTHER.

Reader Page 5

Panel 1 — Different domains

A tilted hallway scene shows the two groups occupying separate sides of school life. Jun-hyung’s rougher associates stand in one area while Dae-seok and ordinary uniformed students occupy another.

Narration:

THEIR DOMAINS
WERE DIFFERENT, SO
THEY DIDN’T BUMP IN-
TO EACH OTHER.

Panel 2 — The turning point

Close-ups isolate Jun-hyung’s cold, bored face and Dae-seok’s more open expression.

UNTIL THAT
HAPPENED...

Panel 3 — A teacher confronts Jun-hyung

Inside a classroom, a female teacher stands beside Jun-hyung’s desk. He lounges deeply in his chair with his feet raised, treating the lesson and the teacher with open contempt. Other students watch.

The teacher shouts:

I’VE TOLD
YOU COUNTLESS
TIMES NOT TO RAISE
YOUR FEET IN
CLASS!

DO YOU EVEN
UNDERSTAND
HOW SCHOOL
WORKS?!

Panel 4 — Jun-hyung’s answer

Jun-hyung slowly leans forward and plants a hand on the desk with a heavy Korean impact SFX. His eyes narrow and he smiles with contempt.

The teacher begins another reprimand:

IF YOU’RE JUST
GOING TO DO WHATEVER
YOU WANT, I’D RATHER YOU
QUIT SCHOOL AND GIVE
YOUR FATHER A...!

Her sentence breaks off before she says what consequence his behavior brings to his father.

Panel 5 — The scene is recorded

A student in a red hoodie holds up a phone and makes an “OK” gesture with his free hand.

Okay, it’s completed.

The understated line suggests the confrontation has been intentionally filmed or clipped for leverage.

Panel 6 — Jun-hyung insults the teacher

Jun-hyung’s face fills the frame, lip curled.

OH, WHAT
THE FUCK IS THAT
DIRTY RATTLING
NOISE!

The teacher’s confidence collapses into visible fear. She still protests:

YOU’RE A
CIVIL SERVANT. WHY
ARE YOU BEING SO
CHEEKY...!

Panel 7 — Political threat

Jun-hyung rises with one hand raised as though he might strike her.

AUNTIE! YOU
KNOW WHAT? IF I
CALLED MY FATHER’S
ASSISTANT RIGHT
NOW, YOU’LL
BE DEAD!

He continues in a jagged bubble:

IF YOU
YELL AT ME
ONE MORE
TIME, THEN
I’LL...!

The teacher recoils.

Reader Page 6

Panel 1 — Dae-seok intervenes

Before Jun-hyung can complete the threat, a fist smashes into his cheek. His face compresses under the punch and sweat sprays outward. Large Korean impact lettering fills the black background.

Panel 2 — Jun-hyung crashes down

Jun-hyung tumbles over and lands among desks and chairs, legs in the air. A chair flips with him. Students and the teacher stare in shock.

Panel 3 — Dae-seok stands up to him

Dae-seok stands in front of the fallen Jun-hyung, shoulders squared and fist clenched.

YOU ARE
GOING TOO
FAR!

He shouts again:

WHAT THE
FUCK IS WITH
YOU?!

The female teacher remains behind him, stunned. Dae-seok’s action is spontaneous moral outrage rather than part of any gang conflict.

Panel 4 — Jun-hyung remembers the humiliation

Jun-hyung sits against the lockers later, cheek bruised where Dae-seok struck him. He wipes his mouth and glares with compressed rage.

Narration:

EVER SINCE
THEN, DAE-SEOK’S
SCHOOL LIFE BEGAN
TWISTING

Panel 5 — Seniors close in

Dae-seok is approached outside by students connected to Jun-hyung. One wears a red hoodie; another grips Dae-seok’s shoulder. Dae-seok looks up, confused and alarmed.

WHA...
WHAT’S WRONG
WITH YOU? SE-
NIORS...

I HAVE TO GO
TO SCHOOL...

The pleading line emphasizes that ordinary attendance has become dangerous.

Panel 6 — Beating

A black-clad attacker drives punches into a red-clothed victim. Repeated Korean impact lettering surrounds the blows. The exact faces are partly cropped, but the sequence represents the organized retaliation against Dae-seok.

Panel 7 — The digital order

Students across the school look down as their phones repeatedly chime. A close-up of a phone displays Dae-seok’s school portrait with a message:

STARTING TODAY, THIS ASSHOLE
WILL BE AN OUTCAST. DON’T TREAT
THIS GUY LIKE A SENIOR, BEAT HIM
UP AT LEAST ONCE A DAY.

The message turns bullying into a school-wide command. The anonymity and broad distribution make participation feel compulsory.

Reader Page 7

Panel 1 — A caste system

Dae-seok walks alone through the school grounds with a backpack. A paper sign is attached to it:

I am an outcast.
Hit me at least
once a day.

Students stand in clusters on both sides, laughing, pointing, and recording him.

Narration:

FROM THAT DAY ON,
AN ENTIRE CAST SYSTEM
WAS ESTABLISHED IN
THE SCHOOL.

DAE-SEOK WAS
NOT EVEN TREATED AS
A HUMAN BEING.

Panel 2 — His family is targeted too

A green liquor bottle lies on the floor of a dim home. Dae-seok’s father, exhausted and unshaven, drinks directly from another bottle.

Narration:

IT WASN’T
JUST HIM.

DAE-SEOK’S FATHER
WAS AN INTERIOR DESIGNER
WHO MOSTLY WORKED IN
GOVERNMENT OFFICES.

THEIR HOUSEHOLD
WENT BANKRUPT BE-
CAUSE HE GOT CUT OFF
FROM WORK ALL
OF A SUDDEN.

The juxtaposition strongly implies political pressure connected to Jun-hyung’s father, though no document is shown proving the mechanism.

Panel 3 — Public humiliation

Jun-hyung stands over Dae-seok outdoors while students record with phones. His heavy black shoe presses down on Dae-seok’s head and face.

Dae-seok, voice broken, asks:

HO... HOW
LONG ARE YOU
GOING TO DO
THIS...

YOU ALREADY
RUINED MY FAMILY...
THAT SHOULD BE
ENOUGH!

HOW LONG
ARE YOU GOING
TO DO THIS!!

Panel 4 — Jun-hyung’s answer

Jun-hyung bends down, eyes wide and smile unnaturally bright.

UNTIL WHEN!
UNTIL YOU DIE!

The next panel moves close to Dae-seok’s face crushed against the pavement. Tears stream from both eyes while the shoe remains planted on his head.

IF YOU WANT IT
TO STOP, THEN DIE!
HAHAHAHAHA

This is the most explicit verbal link between Jun-hyung’s campaign and Dae-seok’s eventual suicide.

Reader Page 8

Panel 1 — Dae-seok’s death and the cover-up

A blurred image shows a falling or bloodied body in motion, recalling Dae-seok’s fatal plunge.

Narration:

AFTER THAT, AS
YOU ALREADY KNOW,
DAE-SEOK...

AFTER DAE-SEOK
DIED, THE TEACHERS TOOK
THE LEAD IN SHUTTING
EVERYONE’S MOUTHS.

THE POLICE DIDN’T
EVEN PUT JUN-HYUNG,
THE SON OF A CONGRES-
SMAN, ON THE LIST
OF SUSPECTS!

The text accuses the school and authorities of suppressing inquiry rather than merely failing to understand the bullying.

Panel 2 — “Like a king”

Back in the counseling office, the injured student leans forward with both hands clutching his head.

IN THIS
SCHOOL, JUN-
HYUNG IS LIKE
A KING!

THAT DEVILISH
MOTHERFUCKER...!
DAE-SEOK DIED BE-
CAUSE OF IT, BUT TO
HIM, THE SYSTEM
WAS FUN...

AND THE
NEXT PERSON IN
THE ATTENDAN-
CE IS ME...

“Attendance” refers to the rolling list or rotation of designated outcasts/victims.

Panel 3 — Na’s reaction

A close-up shows tears gathering under the student’s eye as he finishes.

Na sits opposite him with arms folded. His entire body trembles beneath repeated Korean vibration SFX. His eyes are squeezed shut, mouth opened wide, and tears appear at the corners—but the exaggerated posture reads less like casual crying than fury being compressed into a theatrical yawn/stretch.

The student asks:

TE... TEACHER?

Na answers, startled out of the pose:

YE... YES?

Then, stretching both arms upward:

AH~ ARE
YOU DONE
TALKING?

Panel 4 — Na reframes the problem

The student stares, bewildered. Na says:

HEY, KID! WHY
ARE YOU TAKING SO
LONG TO TELL ME THAT
YOU’RE SCARED OF
ONE KID?

Na deliberately reduces Jun-hyung from “king” and political heir to a single schoolboy. The injured student’s expression shifts from panic to stunned disbelief.

Reader Page 9

Panel 1 — The student objects

The student jumps to his feet, fist clenched, and shouts at Na:

IT’S NOT JUST
IN HIGH SCHOOL!
DIDN’T YOU HEAR
WHAT I SAID?!

OR ARE YOU
PRETENDING THAT
YOU DIDN’T HEAR
IT BECAUSE YOU
CAN’T HANDLE
JUNHYUNG?

Na remains seated, looking down at a folding phone or smartphone in his hand.

Panel 2 — Na shows the screen

The injured student raises the phone to eye level as Na cheerfully directs him:

HERE~
HERE~ TAKE
A LOOK AT
THIS!

The screen contains a televised image too small and blurred here to read fully.

Na smiles:

IT’S A GREAT
DAY TO BE ALIVE,
ISN’T IT?

Panel 3 — Emergency response without police

From a high exterior view, several people move along the school grounds below. The student, looking out or reacting to the phone, says:

AN AM-
BULANCE...

BUT
NO POLICE
CAR??

The exact connection is clarified at the end of the chapter: while the school is distracted by the knife incident, a political scandal involving Jun-hyung’s father is breaking publicly.

Panel 4 — Jun-hyung waits on the rooftop

On the rooftop, Jun-hyung sits or lounges with several male followers. One asks:

WHAT,
DID THAT MO-
THERFUCKER
CHOKE?

Another responds:

SEE? I TOLD
YOU HE WOULD-
N’T, DIDN’T I? TO
ACTUALLY STAB
SOMEONE...

Jun-hyung rests his chin against his hand, bored rather than worried.

WELL...
THERE WE GO.
I DIDN’T REALLY
EXPECT MUCH
FROM HIM.

I’VE GOT
TWO OR THREE
MORE STUNTS
PREPARED FOR
TOMORROW.

The line confirms that the knife attack was merely one planned tactic in a broader campaign against Na.

Panel 5 — Na arrives with the attacker

The rooftop door area erupts as Na enters with the injured student tucked firmly beneath one arm.

HERE
YOU ARE! YOU
BASTARDS!

Na grins and raises one finger like a tour guide:

LOOK AT THAT.
AFTER ALL, THE ROOFTOP
IS THE NATIONAL SKIPPING
PLACE IN THE REPUBLIC
OF KOREA!

The injured student no longer looks like Jun-hyung’s obedient pawn. He stands beside Na, tense but upright.

Panel 6 — Jun-hyung’s group realizes the betrayal

Jun-hyung’s followers stare. One stammers:

WHA...
WHAT?
THIS...

Another says:

IS THIS
BASTARD ACTUALLY
STICKING WITH THE
TEACHER?

Their alarm exposes how dependent Jun-hyung’s control is on victims remaining isolated.

Reader Page 10

Panel 1 — Na forces a choice

Na stands close behind the injured student, one arm around his shoulders. He leans toward the student’s ear and shouts:

DO YOU
WANT TO END
UP LIKE PARK
DAE-SEOK!
HUH?!

The student’s fists tighten. He and Na begin walking toward the group, Korean step SFX marking each pace.

Panel 2 — The bullies threaten him

One follower moves forward with a sneer:

WHAT ARE
YOU GOING TO
DO? YOU’RE ITCHING
TO BE AN OUT-
CAST, HUH!

The insult attempts to restore the old hierarchy immediately.

Panel 3 — Na’s instruction

Na lowers his voice beside the student’s head:

NOW~
AS I TAUGHT
YOU~

The injured student’s expression hardens. He plants his feet and raises his fist.

Panel 4 — The student strikes Jun-hyung

The student drives a powerful upward punch directly into Jun-hyung’s jaw. Jun-hyung’s head snaps back; his eyes roll upward and saliva or blood sprays from his mouth. Heavy Korean impact lettering dominates the panel.

Two followers freeze with their mouths open.

Panel 5 — Jun-hyung falls

Jun-hyung collapses onto the green rooftop surface, stunned and glassy-eyed. His body folds awkwardly beneath him.

Na stands at a distance, watching. The injured student remains between the group and the rooftop door.

Panel 6 — Followers grab the student

Two bullies seize the student by both sides of his sweater vest and arms.

YOU CRAZY
BASTARD! YOUR
HEAD’S GOT SOME
SCREW LOOSE,
DOESN’T IT?

The student’s face is bruised but no longer submissive.

Reader Page 11

Panel 1 — Na clears the followers away

Na launches into the two boys holding the student. One black-clad follower flips forward and crashes headfirst onto the rooftop beside a large Korean impact SFX. The other is thrown out of the immediate frame.

Na casually comments to the student:

WHEW~ KID!
AREN’T YOU A
NATURAL?

YOU HIT
HIS JAW PRET-
TY HARD!

Na’s praise acknowledges that the student has finally acted for himself.

Panel 2 — Jun-hyung’s rage

Jun-hyung pushes himself up from the ground, face distorted with humiliation and fury.

YOU... YOU SON
OF A...! I’M GONNA
KILL YOU...

FU... FUCK
YOU! YOU SON
OF A BITCH!

The injured student stands over him with a phone in hand.

Panel 3 — Na removes the political shield

The student holds the phone directly in front of Jun-hyung. Na declares:

BELIEVE
ME, YOU’RE NO-
THING WITHOUT
YOUR FATHER’S
LEGACY!

A jagged bubble below reads:

YOU’RE
FINISHED!

Panel 4 — Breaking news

The phone screen shows a television-news graphic labeled JTV NEWS. A portrait of Jun-hyung’s father appears beside the lower-third headline:

REP. RYU KWANG-PIL’S SCANDAL,
SEXUAL HARASSMENT, BRIBERY...

The ellipsis indicates additional allegations or an ongoing news report. The chapter does not yet explain how the scandal was exposed, but the timing shows that Na’s operation was aimed beyond the school itself.

Panel 5 — Jun-hyung understands

Jun-hyung stares at the screen, pupils small, sweat running down his face.

HU...
HUH...?

FATHER...?

He asks again:

WHY IS MY
FATHER...?

The sentence trails off. For the first time, Jun-hyung looks genuinely powerless.

Panel 6 — Na’s closing expression

An extreme close-up shows Na’s face behind strands of black hair. His eyes are shadowed and his teeth show in a grim, satisfied smile. The expression is not celebratory warmth; it signals that the protection surrounding Jun-hyung has finally been stripped away.

Small production credits appear at the right edge in Korean, above the YLAB logo.

End of Chapter 4.

Chapter-Level Observations

The knife attack is exposed as coerced theater

The chapter immediately clarifies the cliffhanger from Chapter 3. The injured student did stab Na, but only shallowly and without an intent to kill. Na recognizes this from the depth, angle, and hesitation of the strike. Instead of treating the student as the central enemy, he identifies him as another frightened victim being used by Jun-hyung.

Na’s counseling method combines intimidation with a route out

Na is physically frightening: he controls the knife hand, slams the blade into the table, and threatens to demonstrate who is scarier. Yet every intimidating act points toward the same objective—getting the student to stop sacrificing himself for his abuser. He treats the wound in front of him, explains the legal stakes, listens to the history, and then physically accompanies the student when he confronts Jun-hyung.

Dae-seok’s punishment expanded from school to family

The flashback makes clear that Dae-seok’s “offense” was defending a teacher from Jun-hyung. The retaliation then operates on multiple levels: direct assault, a digital order to ostracize him, public humiliation, systematic participation by other students, economic punishment of his father, and institutional suppression after his death. The bullying is therefore not depicted as a private dispute; it is a miniature authoritarian system.

Jun-hyung’s control depends on inherited power

Jun-hyung repeatedly invokes his father’s assistant, political office, and ability to ruin careers. His followers obey because the threat extends beyond school discipline. The final news report attacks the foundation of that authority. Na does not merely beat Jun-hyung’s followers; he removes the external protection that makes the followers believe resistance is impossible.

The injured student’s punch mirrors Dae-seok’s original intervention

Dae-seok once punched Jun-hyung to protect a teacher and was destroyed for it. The injured student later punches Jun-hyung after learning that Na will stand beside him. The visual echo is deliberate: the same act that once led to isolation now becomes the beginning of collective resistance because an adult authority finally refuses to abandon the student afterward.

Translation and lettering notes

  • “Aren’t you cute?” is preserved literally, although the visual tone is mocking rather than affectionate.
  • “At the other end of the knife” appears to mean the person holding it.
  • “An entire cast system” likely intends caste system; the scanlation wording is retained in the dialogue section.
  • “The next person in the attendance” refers to the next selected victim in the school’s informal outcast rotation.
  • Large Korean SFX throughout the chapter mark footsteps, grabbing, doors, trembling, strikes, impacts, phone alerts, and bodies hitting the ground. They are described contextually rather than assigned unsupported word-for-word English translations.
