Strips 1–5 — Na finds three people down¶
After the chapter card and fiction disclaimer, Na stands inside the wrecked apartment.
Min-seo lies on the floor with visible marks on his body. His mother is collapsed nearby. Dong-cheol is also down or struggling after the confrontation.
Na stares at the scene.
“AH…”
“THIS IS…”
He checks the victims and confirms that at least one is breathing.
Dong-cheol weakly insists:
“FORTUNATELY, HE’S BREATHING…”
“I… I KNOW BECAUSE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE.”
“HE’LL PROBABLY WAKE UP ON HIS OWN LATER…”
His familiarity with unconsciousness is more alarming than reassuring.
Strips 6–10 — Emergency services and the failure to report¶
Na calls:
“HELLO, THERE IS AN EMERGENCY PATIENT HERE.”
Dong-cheol tries to stop him.
“I ALREADY TOLD YOU! HE’LL WAKE UP SOON…!”
Na reports that the mother was assaulted and that both the mother and child have fainted.
“THEIR LIFE IS IN DANGER.”
He then confronts Dong-cheol.
“YOU MIGHT’VE NOT CALLED THE AMBULANCE BECAUSE YOU WERE FLUSTERED… FINE, I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT.”
“BUT HOW CAN I ACCEPT THAT YOU DIDN’T REPORT IT?”
Na recognizes the real fear:
“YOU… YOU’RE SCARED THAT IT WOULD REVEAL THAT THEY WERE ABUSED, RIGHT?”
“HOW DO YOU CALL YOURSELF A DAD WHEN YOUR KID’S IN DANGER AND YOU WORRY ABOUT THAT FIRST?!”
Dong-cheol, bruised and seated on the floor, blames Na.
“IT’S ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!”
Strips 11–16 — Dong-cheol names Min-seo’s mother as the primary abuser¶
Dong-cheol says he tried hard to prevent this outcome and accuses Na of making him lose control by stopping his usual method.
Na is disgusted that he is still producing excuses.
Dong-cheol suddenly insists:
“IT WASN’T ME, IT WAS THAT WOMAN!”
“I DIDN’T EVEN TOUCH THE KID!”
He points toward Min-seo’s unconscious mother.
“SHE’S THE ONE WHO WATER TORTURED MIN-SEO!”
He recalls Min-seo suffering a ruptured liver long ago.
He also points to the expensive red RC car Na gave the child.
The broken car shown at the end of Chapter 51 was destroyed during the mother’s abuse, not by an accidental crash.
Dong-cheol’s accusation does not make him innocent, but it changes the structure of the case.
Strips 17–24 — Intergenerational violence¶
The mother lies unconscious as Dong-cheol narrates her thoughts:
“IT WAS ALL HER!”
“MY 20’S WERE RUINED BECAUSE OF MY CHILD.”
He says he also hit Min-seo several times because he could not control his anger, but:
“HIS MOM WAS WAY WORSE THAN THAT.”
A flashback shows her raising an object over the child while Dong-cheol watches.
When Min-seo’s liver ruptured, Dong-cheol confronted her:
“YOU CRAZY BITCH! MIN-SEO’S LIVER RUPTURED!”
“IF YOU WANT TO HIT HIM, DON’T GO OVERBOARD!”
“ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL HIM?!”
She answered calmly:
“IT’S OKAY… HE WON’T DIE…”
Dong-cheol then explains her history.
She was severely abused by her stepfather as a child. When he learned she was pregnant, he threw the teenagers out and chased them with a knife, trying to kill them.
The chapter identifies an intergenerational pattern: she survived extreme abuse and later reproduced it against her own child.
The history explains the pattern but does not excuse it.
Strips 25–29 — Dong-cheol’s claimed “protection”¶
Dong-cheol recalls telling Min-seo’s mother:
“FROM NOW ON, DON’T LAY YOUR HANDS ON THE KID.”
“IF YOU HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS, TELL ME!”
In practice, his solution was grotesque.
When she became enraged at spilled food, Dong-cheol hit Min-seo first.
“I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO DO THAT!”
“IF YOU PUT YOUR HANDS DOWN BEFORE THE RAID IS OVER, YOU’RE DEAD!”
“I WOULD HIT MIN-SEO FIRST, BEFORE…”
“HE GETS ON HIS MOTHER’S NERVES AND DIES!”
He believed that a controlled beating by him would satisfy or redirect her rage before she inflicted more lethal harm.
“THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY TO PROTECT MY FAMILY!”
Na immediately drives Dong-cheol’s head into the floor.
“THE REASON YOU DID THIS…”
“I THOUGHT IT WAS BULLSHIT BUT IT’S WAY MORE RIDICULOUS.”
Strips 30–35 — Na dismantles the excuse¶
Na asks:
“HOW’S THAT PROTECTING YOUR FAMILY?”
“THE KID’S HURT, HOW IS THAT PROTECTING!”
If Dong-cheol truly intended to protect his family, he would not have chosen the only person unable to resist.
“YOU WOULDN’T TRY TO SACRIFICE YOUR ONE AND ONLY CHILD.”
Na says he can guess why Dong-cheol chose this method.
Rather than confronting an adult wife who was volatile, traumatized, and capable of resisting, he selected:
“A CHILD WHO’S WEAK AND CAN’T EVEN SPEAK PROPERLY.”
“IT’S DEFINITELY A MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE WAY!”
Na defines the conduct bluntly:
“WHEN PARENTS ABUSE CHILDREN FOR THEIR OWN CONVENIENCE OR INTERESTS…”
“THAT’S CALLED BREEDING!”
He concludes:
“YOU DON’T DESERVE TO RAISE A HUMAN BEING!”
The point is that Dong-cheol’s “protection” preserved the adult relationship by sacrificing Min-seo.
Strips 36–38 — Ambulance and detention¶
Paramedics arrive.
“HERE’S THE PATIENT.”
The injured mother and Min-seo are removed for treatment.
The story then cuts to a barred holding area. Na sits inside, smoking or waiting after using force against Dong-cheol.
An older, broad-shouldered official stands outside the bars and clicks his tongue.
“YOU PATHETIC PUNK.”
Na looks back with a faint, unapologetic smile.
The panel suggests that even when Na’s intervention is morally motivated, his methods create consequences for the agency.

Chapter-level observations¶
1. The chapter rejects a simple single-perpetrator narrative¶
Min-seo’s mother is the most severe direct abuser, while Dong-cheol is also violent and consciously chooses to hit the child.
2. Intergenerational trauma is causal, not absolving¶
The mother’s childhood explains how violence became normalized. It does not reduce Min-seo’s injuries or remove her responsibility.
3. Dong-cheol’s “lesser harm” argument protects adults¶
He frames his beatings as a substitute for worse abuse. Na points out that the arrangement allowed the adult couple to remain together by making the child absorb both parents’ dysfunction.
4. Emergency reporting exposes priorities¶
Dong-cheol’s first concern is concealment, even when Min-seo may be dying. Na treats that choice as proof that the father’s story of protection is false.
