Opening — Woo-jin disrupts every lesson¶
The chapter begins by asking why Lee Woo-jin suddenly behaves this way.
Before the complaint campaign, he sometimes played games in class but had no serious disciplinary history.
Now he refuses nearly every instruction.
He plays games on the classroom tablet, eats during lessons, invites friends to play football, ignores homework, and mocks the teacher’s explanations.
When Choi asks for the device, he claims she is discriminating against him and violating his constitutional rights.
Na says he was a child too but was never this obnoxious.
Lim says the reason is obvious: his mother told him to create conflict.
Na wants to drag him outside and interrogate him.
Choi refuses. A third party entering her class without permission would violate her right to teach.
She asks the inspectors to trust her.
Choi refuses to escalate¶
Choi stays calm.
She lets Woo-jin use earphones, tells him he can listen to the lesson again when he is ready, and dismisses the other students at the end of class.
She then asks him privately whether something bad happened and offers to take him somewhere for food if he does not want to speak in the classroom.
Woo-jin finally breaks.
He says he does not want to fight her.
His mother ordered him to provoke the teacher because she believes Choi bullied her over the school-violence committee.
Woo-jin says everyone likes Choi, including him.
He asks why his mother is the only person who hates her.
The audio trap¶
Woo-jin resumes the performance.
He insults Choi’s breath, says teaching is disgusting, and continues until she raises her voice.
A recorder hidden on him transmits or stores the audio.
His mother listens and thinks he is doing well.
Woo-jin produces cries that sound like pain, creating an audio clip that can be presented as physical punishment without showing what actually occurred.
The scheme is meant to transform a provoked verbal confrontation into proof that Choi abuses children.
The mother arrives with the recorder¶
Woo-jin’s mother storms into the school.
She says she placed a recorder on him because she was nervous about Choi’s return.
She claims she heard everything and demands that the Teachers’ Rights Protection Agency be called.
Choi asks one question:
“THEN YOU HEARD EVERYTHING THAT WOO-JIN SAID TODAY, RIGHT?”
She asks whether a mother who heard her child behave that way should not intervene.
The other adults confront the mother for using her son as bait.
Woo-jin admits that his mother told him Choi bullied her and that he intended to report everything back.
The child’s statement destroys the claim that the recording documents an unprovoked abusive teacher.
The agency announces the result¶
Lim bumps into or blocks Woo-jin’s mother as agency staff arrive.
The final Ministry result is announced:
Mrs. Choi Ji-sun was found not guilty.
The agency adds malicious false complaints and violation of teachers’ rights to the mother’s case.
The chapter closes with the mother realizing the next consequences no longer depend on her ability to dominate a school meeting.
