Opening — Jang Kwon-hyuk wakes in hospital¶
The chapter resumes after Jang Kwon-hyuk was found severely injured.
He wakes in a hospital bed with bandages around his head, arms, and hands. Na Hwa-jin and Lim Han-rim are waiting nearby.
Kwon-hyuk explains that he fought a large group the day before—or possibly the day before that—and was eventually overwhelmed.
Na is surprised that someone with Kwon-hyuk’s reputation ended up in such a condition. Kwon-hyuk says he had not thrown a serious punch in months before the incident.
Na asks for his phone.
The agency connects him to illegal gambling¶
Na tells Kwon-hyuk why the agency returned to the area.
Illegal mobile gambling has spread rapidly among students. Kwon-hyuk’s phone contains gambling history, and the investigation has already identified the people who popularized the games around Guwon High.
The trail leads to the school’s strongest delinquent circle—particularly Lee Ho-sung and Jo Hong-gi.
Kwon-hyuk immediately becomes defensive.
“RIGHT NOW… ARE YOU SUSPECTING ME?”
Na does not accuse him directly. He watches the emotional reaction and asks whether Kwon-hyuk knows anything.
Flashback — The first-paycheck dinner¶
The story shifts to Kwon-hyuk’s first payday from field training or employment.
Ho-sung and Hong-gi take him to an expensive restaurant. Kwon-hyuk expected pork belly or ordinary Chinese food and suspects they are trying to make him pay the bill.
Hong-gi tells him not to worry and promises to show him “magic” that makes the meal cost disappear.
The boys open an illegal gambling account using Hong-gi’s old username, rendered as DalgiHongki/DalgiHongi.
They begin with approximately 50,000 won.
A rapid series of gains appears on the screen. Within less than thirty minutes, the balance reaches roughly 1.6 million won.
Kwon-hyuk asks whether it is real money rather than game currency.
Hong-gi says the winnings are not luck. His account is connected to the gambling-site operator through a special distributor or VIP arrangement.
The winning rate increases slightly—about 0.2 percent—for every recruited member. A charismatic student who brings in many classmates can therefore earn far more than an ordinary trainee salary.
Ho-sung tells Kwon-hyuk that honest work merely makes a person a slave, while smart people earn money without working.
They invite him to join them.
Na reads Kwon-hyuk’s reaction¶
Back in the hospital, Kwon-hyuk says he does not know anything.
Na casually names Lee Ho-sung and Jo Hong-gi.
Kwon-hyuk blurts out in alarm, asking why Na mentioned them.
Na smiles.
“NICE~ THIS REACTION!”
He says Kwon-hyuk’s face revealed the perpetrators before he admitted anything.
Kwon-hyuk finally says Hong-gi is involved, but insists that someone forced or manipulated him.
Na encourages him to continue.
Kwon-hyuk warned his friends¶
Another flashback shows the boys after Kwon-hyuk encountered the Teachers’ Rights Protection Agency.
He warns them that Na is looking for students who suddenly gained or lost large amounts of money.
All three remember what happened during the earlier Guwon High intervention and understand the danger of being caught.
Kwon-hyuk tells them to save themselves, even if they continue gambling or “duplicating” money.
Hong-gi says he must make a payment that day.
Ho-sung is curious about Hong-gi’s claim that the account is directly connected to the operator.
Kwon-hyuk tells them that gambling schemes never last. He compares the trend to coins and stock-market speculation: most people briefly make one or two hundred, then ultimately lose around a million.
He asks them to stop mocking people who work honestly and offers to help them train or find legitimate work instead.
The G.Y gang attacks¶
The warning comes too late.
Kwon-hyuk is confronted and beaten by adult or older gang members connected to the gambling operation.
They mock the “best person in Guwon High” for appearing cowardly and say Hong-gi merely followed orders.
A distinctive tattoo catches Kwon-hyuk’s attention: a stylized girl’s face accompanied by the initials G.Y.
The chapter ends on that mark, revealing that the school gambling circle is connected to a larger criminal organization.
