Opening — Guwon’s fighters confront the G.Y gang¶
The chapter opens amid the clash that left Jang Kwon-hyuk hospitalized.
Gang members react furiously that outsiders touched “Guwon’s number two.” Kwon-hyuk admits that he lost, but says there was more than one powerful opponent.
An adult enforcer checks one of the injured students and casually says that anyone no longer useful can be thrown away.
The gang’s strongest members are surprised that Kwon-hyuk remains conscious after receiving their attacks.
The gambling system is shown openly¶
The story cuts to students staring at an illegal gambling interface.
A high-ranking gang member calls them idiots for playing without understanding the structure.
He explains the business model in three stages:
- Let the player win money.
- Make the player lose the money.
- Offer credit or loans and turn the player into a debtor.
The debt is then used to create “slaves” who continually bring money to the organization.
One student promises to repay within three days. The collectors order him to bring his parents’ bank account information the next morning.
Another debtor has already sold belongings and taken money from his parents. The gang wonders aloud whether he will eventually sell out his friends as well.
The organization sees debtors not merely as customers, but as recruiters, thieves, and disposable labor.
The G.Y name¶
A captive notices the gang’s tattoo.
It contains a girl’s face and the initials G.Y.
Members say the organization previously used another name, but the president abruptly changed it.
Someone asks whether G.Y is simply another violent student circle.
A gang member answers that the group has moved far beyond that level.
Even if the Teachers’ Rights Protection Agency or the national government intervenes, G.Y has no intention of turning back.

Members learn that it operates directly under the Minister of Education, handles youth-related crimes in a police-like capacity, and employs two former special-forces supervisors.
Some gangsters suggest withdrawing. One inspector reportedly defeated a large group alone.
The branch manager says he contacted the organization’s president.
The answer was simple: G.Y has never been intimidated by government authority, and the president wants the agency “smashed” immediately.
A phone call confirms that a student’s interest payment is due at 11 p.m. The collector receives an address.
The branch manager says he is going out because he has thought of something entertaining.

Chapter-level observations¶
1. The operator manufactures both hope and desperation¶
Winning and losing are not opposite outcomes to the organization. Both are stages in converting a child into a debtor.
2. Debt expands criminal participation¶
Once students cannot pay, the organization uses them for theft, recruitment, account access, and other crimes.
3. Adult gangsters serve a youth-directed network¶
The older men supply violence, but the distributor and president make strategic decisions.
4. Lee Jung-hyuk invites the agency deliberately¶
Rather than hiding from the investigation, he plans to use a debtor as bait and confront the inspectors.
