Gayoon choi

Gayoon Choi is an important minor character in Get Schooled. She’s the daughter of Gangseok Choi and was the fiancée of Hwajin Na before her tragic murder. Gayoon lived as an optimistic teacher that was killed by Gyucheol Cho, her own student. It’s because of her death that it inspires her father into founding the Teachers' Rights Protection Agency in her honor, with Hwajin joining in as a warden.

Gayoon is a beautiful young woman with long hair in a light tannish-brown color and brown eyes.

In her first appearance of a flashback in s1, ep. 35, she wore a white shirt with a green sweater, along with a long olive-colored skirt and white Mary Jane style shoes.

When she met up with Hwajin in a cafe years ago, she wore a white turtleneck, a red skirt, and white flats.

Although she hasn't appeared much nor interactions, from brief mentions, it appears she is very kind and gentle that wishes to help people. Hwajin noted that she had a big love for macarons.

Despite her kind hearted demeanor, she also has a fiery temper if she’s provoked. As a strong believer in redemption, Gayoon felt upset over Hwajin thinking otherwise while trying to drop the topic so they can focus more on each other. She responds by giving Hwajin a karate chop to the head and chews him out for daring to criticize her stance on redemption. But she almost immediately calms down and awes Hwajin with a heartfelt talk on her beliefs.

She is Gangseok's daughter and Hwajin's fiancée, who is currently deceased by the time of the main events. Her death is the reason for both of them to work for the TRPA.

It is explained that she is the victim of a teacher assault case. Supposedly, she stopped her student, Gyucheol Cho, from trying to ditch school. Gayoon scolded Gyucheol for something, which got him angry and he hit her severely in the stomach which broke some bones. This caused her body to bend into an "L Shape" and she died instantly.

Two years ago, she and Hwajin met, dated, and eventually became engaged. At some point, she met up at a cafe with him. She disclosed her personal turmoil on dealing with one of her students who had a nasty reputation as a delinquent. Hwajin bluntly tells her the student is beyond redemption and advises Gayoon to listen to her supervisors’ concerns. Hwajin then tries to change the topic on talking about each other as Hwajin worries over her father’s hatred towards him and wonders over what he should say to the latter.

Gayoon interrupts Hwajin with a karate chop to the head. She calls him out on telling her earlier that “you can’t teach an old dogs new tricks“ because it’s her own personal pet peeve. She’s well aware that a person can’t change with a few words, but doesn’t see the point of having teachers because of society giving up on those deemed a lost cause. Gayoon goes on to say that while it’s unlikely her student won’t change right away, she still believes if she was the only one that had hope, then her student might change for the better someday.

Two years prior to the main story, she was killed by Gyucheol Cho, who attempted to ditch school because he didn’t want to stay where there is no air conditioning operating. Her father is heartbroken over the tragedy and furious that her killer got off easy with a light sentence just because the latter is a minor, to which Gangseok announces to Hwajin that he will start an organization to prevent other people from experiencing their sorrow.
